If a group of men and a group of women were dropped on two separate islands, which group would survive?

I have my own opinions, but I will pose it to gag to see what would happen. I do know only one single woman on here would be likely to survive, and may get her fellow women to survive.

The situation is this, there is no communication between the islands. There is no technology, no internet, no phones, no modern tools, only rocks and wood. On one island 10 women are dropped with just the clothes on their back. On the other island 10 men are dropped with just the clothing on their back. The goal is to survive and find/make a way off of the island.

And to reiterate. There are no modern tools, no technology, no internet, no phones, no communication with the outside, no one coming to rescue them. Only what's there on the island. It's tropical, so imagine the resources on a tropical island. Oh and no other people other than the people dropped on the island.

Which group would be more likely to survive.

Isn't this the survivor TV series? The group of women invariably do a lot worse.

They take a lot longer to get a fire going. Don't forage for food very well. In one series they use the fresh water they are initially given to wash their hair and then suffer dehydration for it.

In one series they have separate camps on the same island. The women are unable to build structure that stand up and are rain proof. They don't protect the fire from rain so it gets wet and goes out. Over in the man's camp the fire is the top priority to protect. They build stable structures with rain proof roofs and comfortable. beds.

After one wet night too many the women's answer is to go over to the men's camp and swallow their pride and ask for shelter. Somehow the women are able to find some bullshit to claim they did better than the men and don't need no man (just their beds).

It wasn't Survivor but some men versus women survival skills test produced by ABC Australia. The task was to walk from the drop off point to a waterhole on a distant cattle station No problem with rain, cause it was a very hot arid environment. The men trekked at night to conserve the given water. The women took their beauty sleep and got lost a lot.

The men got to the waterhole a full day before the women but good naturedly waited for the women to turn up so they could all formally cross the finish line together. Instead the women charge forward to cross first. Hopefully those men learn't a lesson on female nature.

I think men just instinctively note where the sun is for the north south axis. I Asked a team with about 6 women and 6 men to point to North. Then men were all between NNW and NNE whilst the women were in all directions. In fact the women disputed where north was but the guys all said "No it is not where you are pointing but over here". The women then argued I had set it all up and worded up the men where to point.

When I am in the northern hemisphere I feel very discombobulated because I no longer know where north is instinctively and have to work it out. Might take a month to start feeling comfortable again. Do you northern guys experience the same in the southern hemisphere?

Really depends cause I’ve seen individual men and women survivors get close to dying, give up on survival shows, get injured. And on and on- you know like- if they didn’t have supervisors and it wasn’t a show they’d ACTUALLY die.

I’ve seen groups in school days slack.

Seen similar in companies.

Seen those who make the big leagues of their sport and their gender and same note seen the ones who didn’t make it-

you know the championships or whatever for both NBA and WNBA or whatever.

Seen both genders on bridges and brink of suicide.

Not everyone always has it together, not everyone succeeds, not everyone manages, not everyone remembers, not everyone wins, not everyone scores, now everyone passes, not everyone lives, not everyone survives, not everyone makes it, not everyone is smart or

It really depends on their iq, their ability to manage and cooperate, ability to cope, ability to brainstorm, and abilities to actively execute. 🤷‍♀️ Depends on the set of circumstances each side and every member will face. Some may face lucky and fitting circumstances and some may not, and if they can’t adapt and rise to the challenge and occasion then they really just won’t make it, especially if their team

doesn’t carry their weight and mistake (s).

No way to truly know, as it relies on knowledge. If the guys know what they're doing to make a raft, probably them.

I can make a raft, I know how to make tools and cordage. But if it's just me and the other girls are barely doing shit, I'll find other ways to make em useful and if they fuck that up, I'm leaving em behind.

But realistically I'd try and make my way to the men's island if possible, and help them get rafts made and boost our supplies. It's easier to escape with help, supplies and a fallback option

LOL I took a survival class in high school and my stupid partner who was a "friend" didn't grab anything for the fire. We needed birch bark and she let the other kids take it all while she was flirting with someone and I was getting the wood. So then I had to try to find stuff outside and it was all wet cuz it rained. Luckily my friend greg helped me out and he had a lighter lol We would most likely die, since a lot of girls are stupid LOL.

If this was 50 years ago I would have said men but now a days most men cannot even stay hydrated and healthy living in modern times. And they do not work well together as a team. there's always a man trying to take control and lead a group caring mostly for themselves and not as a group. Women have more common sense for survival situations and are more likely to work together so I gotta say women

Men by a long shot. They would be like the original cave men who survived just fine.
Plus they have that upper body strength that real women just don't have so everything would be super hard for them to build a hut to live in and hunt for food.

Men, because men find soon a leader. Women fight a long time for leadership and will probably starve and die due infections caused by inset bites before they accept tasks from someone. If I was in the women group I would take my resources, separate and do my own thing. Other girls called me often "Zosia samosia" was is a polish fairy tale that should teach girls working together, but I always found cooperation with other girls is rather difficult unless it's some superficial stuff

They actually did exactly this on a show called The Island with Bear Grylls.

The men did just fine and we're able to build a fire, find fresh water and boil it to make it drinkable, find food, and build shelter. The women kept getting lost in the jungle, and they found a little pig but they wanted to keep it as a pet instead of using it for food, and the production team had to intervene to keep them from dying. I recommend watching it, especially if you are a woman who thinks she can survive without men.

I could certainly survive and be able to keep 9 other women alive with me... But I have a very outdoorsy background and have practice surviving off just the land.

Even picking at random, I think it would have a lot more to do with the culture you pick the people from rather than their gender. Their may be gender biases that lean one way or the other by various cultures, but as a general rule, I think it's about even odds of survival.

Gender wouldn’t matter. What would matter is anyone had survival skills and more importantly if they can work together to survive vs fighting each other for water and food.

The negative stereotype for men they would more likely be at each others throats. The negative stereotype for women is they would more likely panic and have unrealistic expectations of having someone “save them” vs making the most the dire situation.

I think both would fare quite well. Most people when put in stressful situations will adapt and figure it out. I think it's ridiculously sexist to assume women would fight and gossip therefore not get anything done. It's also so silly to use survival tv shows as evidence to this theory. The men survived just fine.

Women were on the brink of their own demise more than 1 time and have not progressed.

The popular example is that the men won and the women were a complete failure.
I'd love to know who chose those men and women though.
It would be more interesting to me if they'd chosen a group of practical and capable women rather than hopeless wannabes.
It could be that the men still won or the two groups collaborated on a more even footing but it would tell us more about each.

This was actually tried a couple of years ago for a series.

Within three days the women were in trouble because they:

Had no shelter
Had no fire
Had no clean water
Had no food - couldn't hunt
Repeatedly got lost trying to "map" the island

The men:

Had shelter, fire and water before the end of the first day.
Completed the first hunt on day 2 - while mapping their surroundings, bringing the meat back and barbecue that night.

Moral: men need women to reproduce. Everything else needed for the long term survival and building a society they can do.

if it's staying on the island, probably women, but that's just cause we have more fat storage and can survive at much lower bmis than men can, and we're less to hurt each other when we start to snap at some point.

if it's leaving the island, i think maybe men. and i'd say that cause they have more strength and take more risks

I think they would both survive but in different ways. The women would probably come up with more creative ways to survive, while the men would probably survive more on brute physical force.

Assuming the islands are relatively lose to each other, the men would probably come up with constructing a raft or boat to get over to the women, while the women would be happy staying on their island.
