I think as long as the angle monitor had a real time GPS, with Geo fencing that alerted police and probation/parole authorities whenever they get within 1000 feet of a school, park, or anywhere else children congregate, that would be fine. I also think it would be a great idea if the ankle monitors contained an RFID chip, or even better, a Bluetooth transmitter, so that people, including children, could have an app on their phone, which immediately alerted them with a warning, including the photograph of any convicted sex offender, when one comes within 300 feet. I know that I would certainly appreciate knowing if there was a convicted rapist within 300 feet of me!

Sex offenders have higher rates of recidivism for non-sexual offenses, such as violations of parole or other criminal behaviors. Some research also suggests that recidivism rates can vary by specific types of sex offenses, with offenders who commit hands-on crimes against children showing significantly higher risks of re-offense, especially without proper treatment, and even then newer research is showing that no treatment may be able to prevent child-sex offenders from reoffending. So having a lifetime parole condition of wearing a real time, GPS monitor with a Bluetooth transmitter with an associated app, would make me a lot more comfortable paroling sex offenders!

Yeah, that’s my point! If my fiancé, and my parents have the technological ability to track me to the building I’m in and the floor I’m on, just using my Apple watch, (They don’t do that, none of them do, I don't even have “share my location” turned on, but the tech is there, it does exist. I think an improved ankle bracelet is needed. One that not only gives PO’s immediate notification if a parolee goes somewhere they are not supposed to go, but one that can alert everybody in that place if a sex offender walks in, then yes that would be more akin to the old scarlet letter. I’d be for even more offender's getting parole if we could guarantee that no matter where they were, everyone would know, including the police, and parole officers! We have the technology, all we need is the political will! I don’t care if the barista is a sex offender, but I do care if I’m at a park, and a sex offender walks up and sits on a bench watching the kids! I’d like to know that the weirdo is not a sex offender, and if he is, I’d like the cops to show up before I even get a chance to call because they were alerted that he violated his parole the second he parked in the parking lot of a park!

They already do.

• They have to be on a registry so they can be identified. Anyone you meet you can look them up. That's not a scarlet letter, you won't know just by looking at them, but all u need is their name and u can find out.
• Also u can find where they live by using databases publicly available. It doesn't tell u which person in which house, but it tells you all the houses so you can see how many live near you.
• They also can't live within certain distance of a school, daycare, park, or other kid shit. They can't even go inside those places even if their own kid is inside, unless they get special permission ahead of time.
• They can't get a job where they regularly interact with kids (ex: build-a-bear), or even get a job where minors also work (ex: most fast food), without getting special permission.

There might even be more but those are the ones I know off the top of my head.

Not all states or counties have adopted that. But should people need be forced to search out sex offenders or should they be easily recognizable in society?

You aren't forced to, you can not look anyone up and not know unless they tell you. I think all humans have a right to privacy at some level—it would be very hard to function in society if you had a big sign on your face that said you're a sex offender. If the purpose of punishment is rehabilitation it doesn't make sense to do that. Putting them in a database keeps them accountable, anyone can look it up. But putting a label on their actual person does more harm than good i think.

Why even release them then? If they aren't allowed back into society, what's the point in letting them out of prison? So u don't have to pay for their food & housing? Guess what if they're still ostracized like that they can't get a job, so they'll have to be on government programs & ur taxes will still pay for them to survive. & if u want them SO ostracized they can't even do that, then u just want them to die without u having to lynch them. So which is it do u want them to have life or death sentences? Cuz u clearly don't want them to be rehabilitated.

Probably yes but I think the laws of consent need to be more clear cut. 16 should be the blanket age for sexual consent. I mean if you are old enough to have sex legally then you should be old enough to have sex with anyone regardless of their age. None of this romeo &Julie laws nonsense.

I also think 16 should be the age your legally considered an adult you know for driving, working, college, joining the military, have kids.
