I just find it appalling that a lot of them have sentences that are shorter than people who get weed charges. How do kid diddlers get about 5 years and stoners get 10 or more?

Honestly in truth, I think we need a prison reform. It's a more nuanced answer than just "yeah, lock em back up". Offenders in general are more likely to offend again after being released from prison not just sex offenders. This tells us at the very least it's the system that needs reworking, not whether or not they should stay in longer. If we look at other countries that focus on rehabilitation rather than punishment DRASTICALLY lower reoffender rates. I know it's hard and that since I have not personally been affected by sex offenders I am biased, but if we really want to get anywhere and keep the community safe we really need to start treating these people like human beings who need help in therapy. Our current prison system shows that treating people in an inhumane manner increases the likelihood of reoffending. Again, this goes for anybody who's been incarcerated not just sex offenders.

Honestly no, they should be at the very least monitored and kept under surveillance.

In 1938, Swiss doctor Leonardo Conti hyphotized that there was a "sexually deviant" genetic component in certain people, referring to rapists and pedophiles. Now recent studies confirmed there's a seemingly similar "bump" in the brain of said offenders, so it looks like he was right.

However, dr. Conti was also a General in the SS and partecipated in the euthanization of handicapped children, so don't take him for a saint. It was also rumored he had his own son euthanized for having Down syndrome.

I come from a country where there's no data on sex offender and they're left to live near their victim without anybody caring also they don't even go to prison except for pedophile but the others literally don't get anything and for the one who to prison sometime they get free day alone to roam around town but every time they're left alone in town they manage to either kill or rape someone so I would say better to keep them locked.

I think the types of SO should be more thoroughly explained and charges should be about to be common sense (a kid accidentally exposing himself at a park or some BS prank like streaking doesn't deserve such harsh penalties because how we codify the law).
