I think trans people should be able to live out in the open and not have to hide themselves for anyone else’s supposed “benefit” or “protection” (lmao). I don’t think they should be viewed or presented as a “threat”, to anyone, including children. Nobody who wasn’t naturally wired to be trans is going become trans due to outside influence, that’s fucking crazy.
Due to having a more binary history, socially, some issues arise like restrooms or sports participation. Restrooms don’t bother me as much, because it’s just a restroom. If we lived out in the wild still, we’d all just be relieving ourselves in the open, without shame or embarrassment…. the concept of restroom privacy is manufactured, not natural. Feeling awkward about the opposite sex knowing we were relieving ourselves is what this is all about, it’s not a safety issue.
Listen, I remember my mom coming out of a food court bathroom at a mall, and she was upset because a man was in there and peeked over the stall at her. That was in the 80s, well before trans people were even on my radar. The problem there was just that a guy was a pervert.
Trans people aren’t inherently perverted, so there’s no reason to assume they’d be up to no good, very possibly amongst women who they might not even be sexually attracted to in the first place. I suppose you could still be a trans-woman lesbian, but that doesn’t seem to be the norm. And it’s not like this guy peeping my mom was wearing a dress and walked in stealthily, I think my mom was alone, the guy poked his head in to be sure, and then did his perverted shit. That was just a straight guy, presumably, no disguises.
So I don’t think it will lend itself to an increase in anything like that. Women being safe in bathrooms is irrelevant to the presence of trans-women. I don’t think anyone is going to become trans solely for ease of peeping, and like I said, elimination of trans-women would do nothing to protect against the already existing problem of heterosexual male perverts. Anyone can throw on a dress as a disguise if they had bad intentions, that doesn’t make a person trans. And I think it’s disrespectful, irresponsible, and misinformed to suggest otherwise, that trans people have a proclivity towards perversion.
I have many, many questions about participation in sports. I think that needs to be studied, through various levels and various sports, and we need to have a (key word) RESPECTFUL conversation about the results. Concessions and honest admissions will need to be made on both sides. The answer may even be flat out “no”, and that’s fine, as long as it’s arrived at and handled RESPECTFULLY, especially for the trans-women athletes (who it should be noted are EXTREMELY rare relative to the amount of noise made about the topic, and not that pressing of an overall problem, numbers-wise). Honestly, it feels like the sports conversation is abused by transphobes as a semi-legitimate way to give trans people a hard time, for the sake of transphobia, not the sake of the integrity of female athletics, so I have a hair-trigger when it comes to dismissing clearly unserious and disingenuous debaters on the topic.

I'll be respectful to transgenders. I have two, fully transitioned, adult transgender friends - a trans-man and a trans-women. They are both really cool people and it has nothing to do with their gender. They are low-key about their gender and just try to blend in.

I won't be respectful of a fat, ugly, bull dyke who throws a fit about being called ma'am under similar circumstances. Those people are not respectful and, therefore, deserve no respect.

My views tend to be left-leaning on most things, but when it comes to trans stuff, my views tend to be more conservative. While I believe a mentally sound adult has the right to undergo a gender change surgery if they want, and it takes nothing away from me to call them by their preferred pronouns, I do think that's where it stops.
I don't believe a minor should be able to undergo a gender change surgery. If you can't be trusted to vote, can't be trusted to have a beer, can't be trusted to rent a car, can't be trusted to have sex, then why the hell are you being trusted to make a huge life decision like that?
I do not support trans women competing in women's sports, as they are factually, biologically different from a woman.
I don't believe a trans woman should be allowed to use the women's restroom unless we go back to having paid restroom attendants like the old days. Or a building has multiple restrooms, where at least one is for only biological women and any that allowed trans women are clearly labelled as such.
Unlike race, gender, age, or disability, being trans actually is a choice. And while I fully support someone's right to make that choice, I can't support the demand for everyone else to accommodate that choice. Identify yourself however you please, but I think it's unreasonable to then decide that everyone else must identify you as the same.

Those aren't rights. A transgender person should have the identical rights of their biological sex, and that's the end of it. And they do in the US.
As far as the desire for males to be in female private spaces and sports, it's up to the individual organization and not up to a government to enforce it. If a government wants to ban it in government facilities, that's fine, because they can set their own rules. Just leave private businesses alone. If they want coed changing rooms, that's their right.

"Affirming" care isn't care. If it was, we'd be telling the anorexic "of course you're fat, here have a weight loss surgery" - but we don't because they're not fat. It's body dysmorphia - exactly what the vast majority of trans people have.
The only exception is when someone presents as one sex but are genetically the other - XY chromosomes but externally the appearance of female or vice versa. For those individuals - less than 0.01% of humans - surgery to help them match outwardly what they are biologically. They have the right to that help.

I think people with gender identity disorder and gender dysphoria deserve to be treated compassionately. But I don't accept the transgender ideology that seeks to normalize that and force society to change. I don't think that men who "feel like" they are women should be allowed in women's restrooms or be allowed to compete against women and girls in sports. Transgender's should have the same rights as every other person. They should not have extra special rights unique to them. No, men should not use the women's restroom. No men should not be able to take scholarships from women. Women can compete in men's sports if they're capable. There are no barriers to entry for the NBA, if a really good woman wants to try out for the Pacers she can. There are barriers for the WNBA because it's entire purpose is to give women a chance to compete.
