“
Avoidance of Responsibility: They may struggle to assert themselves or take on roles that require a strong sense of authority or self-confidence, as they learned early on to avoid standing out for fear of being targeted.
2. Heightened Need for Validation: Bullied individuals might retain a lingering need for external approval or reassurance, similar to a child seeking safety and acceptance from authority figures or peers.
3. Difficulty Regulating Emotions: If emotional growth was disrupted by bullying, they might struggle with managing frustration, sadness, or anger, responding to stress in ways that echo the patterns they learned during the trauma.
On the other hand, these “childlike” traits can sometimes reflect a positive aspect of resilience. For example, a bullied person might retain qualities like playfulness, empathy, or sensitivity, which stem from an adaptive desire to seek out safe, nurturing environments or foster connection with others. In this sense, their retained childlike nature is a response to a world they perceived as unsafe, leading them to create or seek spaces that feel secure and kind.”

I was bullied growing up and I was never any of these things. In fact I became the complete opposite: taking on responsibility and also understanding what personal responsibility is and how to be successful in life. I also never cared to get other people's approval.
I do however know some people who were never bullied and they grew up actually having a lot of love, support, and protection, and ended up being very weak and childlike through adulthood, with all the things you mentioned.
Thanks. I am bully victim and these traits fit. People respond differently.
I got bullied by everyone but my sister. My parents, teachers, Grandparents, cousins, complete strangers. I got abused physically and sexually. It's made my angry and depressed inside,
unworthy of love, I have social anxiety disorder, I feel beneath everyone. I have a library job that requires little social interaction. I don't want anything to do with people ever again.
No. I was bullied in Jr High School. I joined a gym and got into weight training. I lost weight and got strong. Nobody ever picked on me after that.
