If being left-handed isn't a recessive gene, then why are only 12% of the population left-handed?

Well over the years, I've trained myself to use my right hand in case. Nowadays I used both but originally I'm left-handed. Besides me being left-handed, only my mother's great-grandfather (my great-great grandfather) was.

I've already checked that it's not a recessive gene. If it's not recessive then why are there only 12% left-handed. My siblings and I were raise the same, same parents, same environment but I'm left-handed while they're not.
