A manhunt is underway in Manhattan after the CEO of UnitedHealthcare was shot Wednesday morning, according to the New York Police Department. Brian Thompson, 50, was shot near the New York Hilton on Sixth Avenue just before 7 a. m.

They have denied health care insurance at the highest rate. they are literally the worst. so its entirely possible the suspect was negatively affected by this. Again i don't approve but a motive here isn't exactly rocket science either... to me anyways.

I had UHC and, at the time, I had no complaints. However, I hated CIGNA. Sadly, I am stuck with CIGNA through my job since my wife retired. We used to have Aetna through her job (she worked for Aetna) and it was excellent.

But fuck all that. Healthcare should be nationalized like the military.

The military's job is to defend us against macroscopic things trying to kill us - like human enemies.

Healthcare's job is to defend us against microscopic things trying to kill us - like bacteria and viruses and our own cells (cancer).

If we can nationally fund defending against macroscopic enemies, then we can nationally fund defending against microscopic enemies.

"Provide for the common defen[s]e" - it's in the Constitution's Preamble as a goal of the United States Federal Government. There's no restriction on the size of the thing they are supposed to defend us from.

Anybody who works in health care in the U. S. is basically a murderer I still think systemic change is better but I won't shed a tear for this guy.

If you think this is the end of this, it's certainly not. When you have people suffering and then you have billionaires flaunting themselves more and more on tv and in our government and pushing forth policies that make thrmselves record profits and meanwhile people continue to struggle more and suffer more... Eat the Rich becomes a thing. You will see more of this, especially if this guy gets media coverage.
