Why does it seem to be more sexually abused victims from childhood on social media and forum site vs real life?

It seems like I hear or read more stories about someone’s father, neighbor, priest, uncle, older cousin etc sexually abusing them as well as supposed repressed memories of sexual abuse online and on sites such as “reddit” more than I have ever heard of it happening in reality from people I actually know. Although I know sexual abuse is a thing. It still makes me believe people are just twisted mentally. People need help and rather than get help they go online and use that as their help and make up stories rather they make the stories up intentionally or unintentionally. In reality it just doesn’t seem like the norm like it does online.

Not seen many abuse story on Reddit (& I scroll there far more than I do here) - not saying it's not there but you see what you seek and everything seems more intense and frequent online, you've not only acces to those in your "reality" but the whole world which is a pretty big place. + People are not advertising their abuse IRL - they not walking around shouting their stories for all to hear like online. You can't see on a person if they've been abused, you're lucky your circle has been free from abuse.

a lot of it is self-victimization for whatever perceived injustices they have against whatever group they consider to be their oppressors

there's plenty of grooming and sexual abuse going on in the LGBTQIAP+ but project it onto whoever they consider to be the most conservative because it's more "believable" that a straight white godly Christian man did something terrible to them than some queer woman of color who does drag shows for a living

let's not forget Reddit is a cesspool of left-wing degeneracy often with stories that are made up, exaggerated or has lies omitted from the truth to paint a narrative of who's bad and who's good

For one reason, it’s likely you are reading the same story from the same person 20, 30, 40 times.. gag allows people to create multiple accounts and you may see them talk about that abuse from many places and even anonymously..

Yea. That sounds like insanity 😭 and don’t get me started on the enablers in the comments who suddenly turn into psychiatrists. The OP will be like “These are the signs I saw as a kid that made me believe I was sexually abused even though I have no memory of it.” All the “signs” they put out there are not even directly related to SA. Those same signs could be related to mental conditions or brain development problems but com-mentors will be like “Sounds like sexual abuse to me. I’m so sorry you went through that.” When they don’t know if they even went through anything considering they said they don’t even remember the abuse. It’s all just crazy and entertaining.

I post anon because i look at sites like this as my get way sites. No ones know about them lol. I can be myself or someone can anon but typically I don’t troll. I just ask questions that people don’t ask on other sites or other social medias. I’m a deep thinker and I like getting into the psychology of things. Rather it be for relationships, politics, sex, narcissism, trauma or even questions like this one pertaining to reality vs fake.

bc you can be anonymous online so it's easy to vent. not everyone is ready to tell others to their face they were abused before like they literally CANNOT do it due to various reasons like intense shame. more people have experienced it than you realize

Yes this is true I also believe these sites have of way of triggering unnecessary fear in you over the smallest things. Like if someone were to make a post about their mom aggressively telling them to do something, no serious verbal or physical abuse at all. People will be like “Your mom is an abusive narcissists. You need to get away from her. She’s trying to control you.” Now your problem has escalated from small to big for no reason at all lol. People on these sites are so damaged and unhealed and they project it onto vulnerable and insecure people looking for answers from strangers over minuscule situations that they call solve on their own with simple real life conversations.

This is true. I had to stay off Reddit. The sexual abuse and trauma side of Reddit specifically because the more I read those stories the more it had a negative impact on my mental. I never once in my life considered or thought that I was touched or Sa’d as a kid by anyone close to me or my father. Long and behold the more I read those intense sick stories, naturally my brain starting to question my past, I started to form false memories and become suspicious of those I know never hurt me in that way and that’s when I knew there was much a bigger problem than I thought. As you said, if these people come from SA backgrounds as they claim, it makes sense why they are so adamant on feeling validated about something so vile happening to them. It’s nothing normal about creating a group on a forum site full of strangers to connect with people who were SA’d too. It’s rather more normal to get real physical help in therapy or talk to Jesus, the universe or something to heal you.

Why else does Reddit even allow community’s/post like that to exist publicly to other strangers? It’s definitely some weird hidden agenda.

If you ask me everything is spiritual including how you choose to use the internet/social media and you choose to use it based hugely on what you were raised up on/around.
