Official Title as Introduced:  To amend the Education Amendments of 1972 to provide that for purposes of determining compliance with title IX of such Act in athletics, sex shall be recognized based solely on a person's reproductive biology and genetics at birth. House Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana speaks at a press conference Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025, after the House passed a bill that would prohibit transgender students from competing on women’s school sports teams consistent with their gender identity. The legislation — which advanced  218-206  — came as an increasing number of states have passed laws banning trans athletes from participating in sports in K-12 schools and colleges that align with their gender identity. President-elect Donald Trump, set to be sworn in Jan. 20, repeatedly pledged on the campaign trail that he would ban transgender youth from participating in school sports that align with their gender identity. Almost all House Democrats opposed the measure, but two Texans — U. S. Reps. Henry Cuellar and Vicente Gonzalez — voted for it. North Carolina Democratic Rep. Don Davis voted “present.”

I think this is going to be ruled as unconstitutional because I do not believe that the United States (the name of the Federal Government in lawsuits and other legal documents) has a constitutionally enumerated power to be able to pass legislation on this. Basically, the courts would say that this is a 10th Amendment issue and that the United States doesn't have this as an enumerated power so that it goes to the states to make such legislation.

Furthermore, even if the United States did have the constitutional power to enact such a law, it would likely fail in court being ruled unconstitutional due to something called scrutiny. Basically, the government needs to show why the law was necessary and that the government's objectives could not have been satisfied any other way. Since the United States has no legitimate objective regarding transgenders and sports, any such legislation covering it is likely to be overturned. In this case, the United States is violating the Equal Protection and Due Process Clauses of the 14th Amendment; the same thing used to strike down laws banning same-sex marriage 10 years ago in Obergefell v. Hodges.

Trans-women are NOT women, so it was insane to treat them as such. They are men and should NEVER have been allowed to compete in women's-only activities like sports and beauty competitions.
That's one issue where the "woke" mob's efforts to completely destroy humanity backfired.

I am a trans and I feel unfair about trans people in women’s sports. I mean I admit that women need to be spanked for being a spoiled sugar baby. But it’s common sense that trans women has men’s body. I heard they set the rule that if the transwoman is on hormon blocker and never had a puberty then it’s fine. I think that’s reasonable.

It's a no brainer. I used to compete with the boys in soccer, boxing and judo at local clubs and held my own. But when the boys hit 13 & 14 there was no competing with them. Our senior soccer team 18+ recently played the boys under 15 team and we got hammered 20-0.

No thoughts other than, weren’t we promised a fix to the economy as the main reason to elect this administration back in and kick out the original? I don’t see transgender bans as ‘trumping’(no pun intended) economic concerns…. Doesn’t this seem like sensationalism to appease their base that they themselves riled up in the first place?

I’m just saying, if I ran on banning transgender clowns from ladies restrooms in the carnivals across the country and put an end to drag queen performances of Romeo & Juliet AND ending inflation that “families cannot afford food, are starving out there, and it is a disgrace”…. Wouldn’t I want to fix the economy more than setting gender norms? This is just proving that Presidents and the Government as a whole doesn’t influence the economy at least not directly. I just see this as a complete waste of time.

At the top levels of sports for older teens and adults I mostly agree. For younger children (up to about 12) I don't think it matters. But I think the simplest solution is to just rename "women's" and "men's" to "X"
and "Y". If you have a Y chromosome, you can't enter X events.

The bill doesn't necessarily ban trans athletes. It simply clarifies that Title 9 requires biological sex, not someone's claimed gender, to be used to determine compliance. Title 9 requires institutions that receive federal money provide equal activities for males and females.

When you see case studies of men who were average athletes transitioning to women and breaking all records at the expenses of women who have spent their lives training it would seem unfair.
At least at the top level I wouldn't oppose then idea of banning them.

No one who has lived the majority of their lives and gone through puberty as a male, even after 'transitioning to female’ should not be in competition in any sport alongside Genetic/Bio women because they will have biological advantages over them, those that 'transitioned to female’ even after prolonged hormone treatment will have denser bones, stronger muscle attachment points, and a stronger Cardio Vascular system in comparison to Genetic/Bio women.
