I am 62 years old and I've seen a lot of shit in this country and world that should be scary.

NOTHING... and I mean that... nothing scares me like what is currently going on in the Trump Administration. I want to be clear why.

The Founding Fathers were a group of well-to-do civilized White men who were raised and live in a world in which civility and decorum were de rigueur. For them, it was essentially unthinkable that someone would enter a high position of government who would not act in a similar fashion. Thus, when the Constitution was established, there was never any check and balance on preventing or removing a President who did not fulfill or adhere to the oath of office which is, per Article II, Section I of the U. S. Constitution:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

For the first time in US history, we have a President who, not only is not doing his best to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.", but is doing his best to subvert it.

In short, our Federal Government has rules and procedures which we all, including the President, must follow. One of the "checks and balances" is the Judicial Branch being the ultimate authority on what is Constitutiional or not.

What is occurring is that we have a President who has been ordered not to do certain actions or has had his actions/orders as ruled a. unconstitutional. He ignores those orders which he is not supposed to do.

The "check and balance" here has no teeth.

The only Constitutional alternative is impeachment and removal from office. But, when the Legislative Branch is complicit with the Executive Branch and permitting the ignoring the Judicial Branch, we have a serious constitutional crisis.

The only ultimate alternative is the US Military realizing that the President is not fulfilling his oath and is, in fact, a domestic enemy. This is their oath - the Oath of Enlistment:

I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

Under that oath, if the Military loses faith in Trump as a President and that he is, in fact, a domestic enemy, then they are obligated to remove him.

However, that is completely uncharted legal territory in the US. And, furthermore, once done, then it could be done again. So, I do not expect the Military to intervene.

So, what this means is that Trump will essentially be unimpeded - at least until January 2027.

If he continues with his actions, he will alienate a large swath of voters including conservatives and they will vote Democratic. If the Senate becomes 2/3rds Democratic in 2027, Trump will be the first President removed from office and he won't be able to stay because, on impeachment and removal from office, he INSTANTLY stops being President with the Vice President taking over as President and thus the Military no longer obeys Trump.

That said, I fully expect Trump to be assassinated before then.

Terrible. The world in general is going to shit more and more each day, but the US seems to have it especially bad. For a country that's supposed to be one of the most respectable first world countries on Earth this is fucking embarrassing. I've heard many people say the US currently is literally the worst first world country of all, and I can't say I disagree. And I say this as an American.
