Appearently it was killed. The Rules measure, which was advanced out of the panel Tuesday morning on a party-line 9-4 vote, includes language tabling Luna’s legislation and blocking consideration of any future legislation that is “substantially the same.”

GOP leadership — at the urging of conservative hard-liners — has lined up against the proxy-voting proposal, which Johnson has called unconstitutional. House Republicans railed against proxy voting when it was employed on a large scale by the Democratic majority during the Covid pandemic from 2020 through 2022, filing an unsuccessful lawsuit challenging its legitimacy.

This led to Anna Paulina Luna to leave Freedom Caucus due to disputes about proxy voting.

how ironic seeing how we are a republic (or representative) government.

This is a cool thing that makes voting easier but I'd spend political capital more on election day as a national holiday as a priority. We could field test this with nursing homes and assisted living then into long term hospital stays.

At the same time mail in voting is supposed to help but that is actively being eroded. At the end of the day our mono political party system for millionaires hate democracy and voting as a whole.

Proxy voting is too easy to fake. A proxy vote could be fraudulent yet hard to detect. Vote in person or don't vote at all.
