Since many believe that a well-armed citizenry is a check against a tyrannical government, does that mean we might shoot police officers and soldiers?

LOL, it's a myth that a "well armed citizenry" achieves anything. It's not what the constitution is about. But what the arms industry advertises to sell you cheap crap guns and ammo thinking you're being "patriotic".
Police and soldiers are far better trained and armed than the average citizen. You've just been watching too many movies.
No, I know exactly what's happening. I just want to hear from lunatics who are living in a fantasy world until the shooting starts. THEY have been watching too many movies!!!
@Red_Arrow The key word there is 250 years ago. Also, that is not actually how things went down either but that is besides the point.
@Red_Arrow First of all, it was not just rebels against the nation state. It was a colony against an expeditionary force and USA also had France backing them up. More importantly however, warfare has changed a lot in the last 250 years. They are in no comparable.
@Syntosi The preparations taken were by the colonists. They laid the foundations and set hurdles against the King's forces. France did step in and help them, but it was the colonists who did the planning and preparation to hold off the oncoming forces. Yes, a lot has changed, including what the citizenry can get hold of.
@Red_Arrow "The colonists" are not a rag-tag group of militia. They were not just a random group of guys with hunting rifles. And again, it went up against a simple expeditionary force.
Also, the form of warfare back then had far more in common with formation fighting back in the classical era than trench warfare in 1916, much less actual modern warfare. If you tried to do the same thing today, especially with just "citizens used mostly hunting rifles" then you would not even get to the front lines before you were dead.
Unless your neighbor has a patriot system and your other neighbor has military communications satellites then your neighborhood does not stand a chance.
@Red_Arrow I have. You need to read less romantic dramas of that time.
@Red_Arrow Well, putting aside the comparison. Have you seen the war in Ukraine? That is an example of two chronically underfunded, under trained, undermanned and under-quipped armies fighting each other. Its like a slap-fight between two cripples. And yet, if like 5 dude with guns meets up with each other anywhere near the front line then they are going to get immediately blown up by an FPV drone, artillery or some form of rocket or missile.
And the only reason they wait for 5 or so dudes to meet up is because its not economical to use million dollar weapons to blow up a single dude. In a modern war you will not stand a chance against the government as a civilian because you can't even collaborate with others. Every communication is intercepted or jammed, every attempt at a meetup will result in you getting blown up and every try at digging trenches or whatever is going to get you blown up as well.
And let me tell you something. Not only is USA much better at spying on you than either Ukraine or Russia is, but they also dont mind spending millions of dollars of missiles to kill a single dude. Not grouping up to avoid presenting a "tasty target" is not going to save you from USA's military budget.
@Red_Arrow No it does not. Russia is currently broke. It also is pushing soldiers to the front line with only a few weeks of training, if even that. While they do have some veterans who against all odds are still alive and retain training, the average Russian soldier in Ukraine has virtually no training and or equipment.
@Syntosi Sorry/. I did not realize that you have access to their financial books. Yet they continue to produce and use weapons, claim territory that is not theirs and will fight for it, compare to the average Ukrainian fighter who is just a citizen trying to protect his family and country against the more powerful Russians who have plenty of money to wage war.
@Red_Arrow Their financial books are public records. Of course, they have started to become very shy with sharing it as of late, for some UNKNOWN reason but we can still extrapolate their current reserves by combining their previously known savings and incomes, take away what they have been spending, add in what they would have gained such as through sales of oil and gas etc..
They are currently pretty much broke. They have been supplementing this by raiding their local banks and such like that but its not enough.
As for their production, it has likely peeked last year or the year before and is currently going down. Most of their "new production" was just taking old soviet stockpiles and "renovating" it. Those stockpiles are running out and the people who work in the factories is being sent to the front lines.
Surprisingly, the average Ukrainian fighter is actually more trained and equipped. First of all, Ukraine has not cut their training programs and they also get help training from other countries. There are a few examples where they made an exception but they are few and noteworthy at the start of the war.
There are also more Ukrainians than Russians in the war. The reason Ukraine is still losing ground is a combination of Russia being willing to pay the price of losing men where as Ukraine is not and the fact that Russia is the aggressor so they can pick and choose where to concentrate their forces and push to gain a local advantage.
Look. You clearly have no recent understanding of this conflict. Just stop.
@Red_Arrow Yes. Countries are generally completely open about their finances. Sure, Russia probably has a secret stash somewhere and they like to funnel money around secretly but the overall numbers are generally correct because that is important for the economy and as a bragging right.
Right now I can go look at the military budget for USA. I can look at US currency reserves and how much they gain in taxes. These numbers are not secret, and the fact that you think so is very silly as well as casts major doubt about how much you understand about the topic at large.
The police and military are a part of the government. So if you are fighting the government you would be fighting them as well.
That's exactly my point!!!
Keep in mind, we fought a major war over a comparatively minor tax and a beverage most couldn't afford. We killed over 43.5 thousand British troops.
We have a culture of violent revolution against tyrants. We may not win, but we will fight against those who try to fuck around too much.
No no no. They love police officers. Oh, unless they're in DC on January 6th. Open season on them!

That's what Madison implied, in the case of a rogue government. That's what happened in 1776. It can still happen if leftists fully take charge. I think the election of President Trump either headed off or at least delayed an armed uprising of Patriots. I still think an ideological divorce is inevitable.
Yeah... like all of the "Leftists" that overran the Capitol to overthrow the Government and throw out election results to keep the Fuhrer in power...
Some police have been shot when illegally breaking into people's homes. So it already has happened.
If they represent a tyrannical government I think that firing on agents of that government is on the table. I really hope it never comes to this.
The "well-armed (white) citizenry" has oppressed us blacks for 406 years !!!
I think the police and my brothers in the military will be on the side I am on.
So, when will you know that the government is tyrannical? How would anyone know?
Explain.
You're right! I question your Fuhrer!
More proof of the dumbing down of America. Trump is definitely a great grifter and con artist, but people are beginning to wake up. His disapproval ratings are historic for being in office just 100 days. The pain will get worse...
A militia is defined as armed civilians that assist a military. So yeah they’d probably shoot whoever or whatever the enemy is
That made sense when civilians had arms of a similar level to states. They don't now.
Are you still high from 420?
🤣😂🤣😂
Who's "We"?
God, I want to
If you want to be on prison for 45 years
No that won't happen
