Why is the woke left against Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream?

In his famous “I Have a Dream” speech, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. expressed a clear vision:

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

Fast forward to today, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) seems focused on prioritizing identity—especially race and gender—as factors in hiring, promotion, and access.

So here’s the question: If we are constantly emphasizing race in decision-making, aren’t we doing the exact opposite of what Dr. King envisioned?

DEI is to ensure race can't play a factor. Maybe you feel more comfortable with whites, DEI means you can't make this a criterion for accepting ir denying an application.
My field is primarily filled by women. Since I began working in it, I have seen 2 men besides myself. So 3 men in a setting of over 40 people. All my instructors, proctors, and classmates were also female. I met one other guy when I was taking a test, and he was there as a substitute, assistant proctor. So, for whatever reason, DEI benefits me in this field because it seems women are favored despite the fact we all go through the same process to get certified.

Well when there are still systemic inequities that “people” refuse to acknowledge, it’s hard to enact Dr kings dream, not to mention that the same people that love quoting him would call him a race baiter and an anti white racist today. I’d also like to point out that DEI benefits white women the most so I don’t know why people like you are always talking about race when discussing it.
