How important is it to have a boy child?

People sometimes regret not having boy child. They wish like if they had boy child they could be dependent on him or he could do that as girls can't do everything for safety reasons or because of less physical strength. Girls can't take up any job for financial needs she has restrictions again because of same reason. So practically what do you think how important is it needed to have boy child or to have male in our life as life partner or friends or child or any way? Practically.
