They mostly don't. Almost everyone understands that Trump has certain flaws, and almost no one agrees with him on everything.

Example: he recently started talking about reopening Alcatraz as a prison. Not that he has any real plans, he's just said he's thought about it. Well, actually doing that would be really stupid. The current place is falling apart, and the Federal Park Service spends a fortune trying to maintain it, but it's a losing battle. It was closed in the 60s because it was already badly deteriorated then. To actually make it usable would require complete demolition of everything on the island and a complete rebuild from scratch. On a tiny island in the middle of the SF Bay. That would be very expensive, much more expensive than building a new supermax in a dozen other places.

But that's mostly talk, and I know it. Really, it's just Trumps way of letting people know that he's tough on crime. And THAT we support.

We all know he's kind of a blow-hard, and that he's a bit too in love with himself. He's far from perfect. Almost no one is naive enough to believe otherwise. But we care about his POLICIES, and compared to any other candidate - even most Republicans - he's LIGHTYEARS better. Few people would have had the strength of will to face all of the attacks he has and come back to win the Presidency again and then follow through on his promises. But he's done just that.

The Democrats' policies are HORRIFIC, and have been destroying the country, in the same way that every all-Democrat-run city has been disintegrating and sending people running away as fast as they could, because of all the drugs, crime, and corruption. We don't have to like Trump himself - it's the POLICIES that matter, as well as the backbone to stand behind them. And Trump has proven himself there.

You can whine about it all you like, but it won't matter. The majority of the country is behind Trump. If Dems had even halfway decent policies, Trump would have never had a chance, but Dem policies are straight up insanity, and most people are done with that, though they'll still be suffering from the consequences for quite a while, because change doesn't happen overnight.

I'm not from the US, but I'm a keen political observer and from the outside looking in, I get why people might not like Trump, but I don't get why they hate him, seems totally disproportionate, and I'm baffled that those condemning him think they can do any better... they've proven time and again that they can't, and it's really concerning that people can't see the situation for what it is.
