Are federations good or bad when the states within are basically "their own little countries, were there no federal government design" - ?

Will say I am very bias here... But federation sucks.

It's absurd anti-logical mess that astounds me a country even has such a thing. Oh yeah let's have weed legal here and one street away over a invisable border it's now illegal... Wait what happens if this state has loose gun laws and the other don't? Nah don't worry about it I'm sure there will be no gun problems...

Nope I am sure a country like this has zero problems with random confusing law differences and easy smuggling. None at all.

I love been on a Island... Though don't get me wrong I ain't saying it's all rainbows here, and we have our own mess called Ireland, Scotland and whatever else.

Anyway as you can see I support a country should just be a country with laws equal across the land.

In my opinion they are good. The more decentralized the government, the better. There are exceptions to that, but in general localized is better.

Personally I think the US would have been better staying as it was originally made - as a confederation. It had an even weaker central government than the federation it turned into.
