On this Memorial Day, is there someone you honor? Did/do you serve? What can be done to better help Veterans of today?

My father was a very successful doctor. But the thing he was proudest of in his life was his service as a officer and doctor in the United States Navy in World War II.
He was in Fort Pierce Florida with the Underwater Demolition Team, who were the predecessors of the Navy SEALS, at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and later with the 6th Marine division in China.
To the end of his life just short of the age of 98, every time I took him to a doctor or a hospital he would proudly tell them about his Navy experience.
And then he would tell them what they are doing wrong with his care and how to correct it! 🤣
I cannot help but remember my father proudly today Memorial Day, on the 4th of July, on Veterans Day, and on every other day of the year. I'm proud of his service and I'm proud of his pride in his service.
My uncle was also a Navy officer and a navigator on an escort ship for the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier during World War II. He too was proud of his service to the end of his life and carried on some of the traditions such as raising the United States flag every day of his life, standing at attention and saluting it.
All of this brings tears to my eyes. These were people who understood the importance of remaining free. It is a lost art.
Memorial Day is designated for us to remember those who gave their lives in service to our country. Veterans Day, in November, is intended to honor all veterans.
I remember Silas Weeks, my 6th great-grandfather, who died while serving in the American Revolution.

I have served, and I honor those who have served before me, those who are serving and those who gave their lives serving.

I honor a few service members in the family who have long passed, also my grandfather who built military equipment after the war who is alive.
I never served, though if I were drafted to serve this country, I would do it for The Constitution, my country, and my family’s safety. I respect our veterans and thank them for their service, God Bless them & protect them.
Veterans deserve more benefits, I was happy with the passage of The Pact Act though more has to be done. Tax exemptions, insurance for surgeries and therapy, and make it easier for all Americans to serve their country whether that is boots on the ground, nurses, doctors, etc. not put up barriers for certain citizens to not serve their country when they have the fiery heart of a true patriot.
Think of the sacrifices made to keep you and your family free then thank a service member for keeping us free. Thank you to all veterans and our service members, God Bless You not just Memorial Day but everyday.
My dads dad, was supposed to have been in wwii, but, the war ended, just as he was about to be sent off. My moms dad was air force. But was not a good man. Didn't even come to her own graduation, and wouldn't pay for her college tuition.
I never got to meet him, well, technically I did, just, when I was still an infant. He died of liver cancer, from drinking. Her mom died from lung cancer, from smoking. My dads dad died recently, of old age, likely, my dads mom died of colon cancer
People, get your stuff checked out. Before it's too late
I honor the great men such as myself. My dedication and selflessness ensure that we can live in a country where principles like discipline can thrive. Most people need to stand in the corner and recite the Pledge of Allegiance 100 times until they understand the meaning of liberty.
Yes, Audey Murphy. and I read some stories as well of veterans that lost their lives.
I honored my family members that served... risked their lives, and their friends whom died in war.
I guess we should also acknowledge the many we've killed in war. War is a racket.
Fix the VA system for one thing. Also, create asylums for the veterans that fell into drugs and alcohol abuse so they have a chance at least. The best thing of all would be to not have all these wars in the first place. That would have prevented all the missing limbs, organs and PTSD to begin with.
I honor my brother - Jerry, who died in January, and I walked through the tombstones to find his grave marker at Georgia National Cemetery, and we laid flowers at his grave along with two other veteran grave sites.
He and I both served, Jerry in the Air Force, and I, in the Army.
I was active duty in the Navy 9/11/2001.
Want to do good for veterans, don't vote for Democrats. Several hundred thousand veterans died waiting for the VA to care for them during the Obama administration, then it happened again under Biden.
It's a quiet day for me. I don't really enjoy it. Causes too many thoughts I don't want to think about. Resurrects ghosts I'd rather stay locked away. Call it my penance, LOL.
My Grandfather , he was in the Air Force during WW2 and he was in one of the B-17 Bombers that made it back safe after bombing Germany.
Dying for interest of the elites while invading some underdeveloped shithole. What a honor and glory...
My maternal grandfather was in WW1 as a cook. I have his trench shovel and binoculars from that war. My dad and I have congenital issues that precluded us from serving. A good friend of ours was in VNWar.

My grandma who passed away and my grandfather who passed away I miss them so much they were veterans.
My family is veterans to.
I wish I could serve, but that's been kinda gone down the drain.
There's one person I always keep in mind.
Not my country but I am the son of a solider mother so I know the respect that the military deserves
I honour the soldier from San Diego who asked me to send him videos of boys jerking on cam when I wore a cute dress and sent him the picture of my body.
I served. Many in my family served. Almost all of us served in Combat Arms, which means artillery, infantry, combat ships etc, not clerks although we need them too so no disrespect.
I remember Michael Strange of Philadelphia PA. My cousin Philip, and a dozen of my friends from school all died in Iraq or Afghanistan for nothing. I vote MAGA Republican so we stop wasting American lives in Jewish wars.
My father was a WW2 vet and a POW. I think of him a lot but especially on Memorial Day.
Trump & Co resigning would be a good start towards helping vets.
I did not serve nor would I when I was draft age.
Rank. CIC.
Post the link of booing
War is for profit. I do not support young people being brainwashed into serving or how predatory the whole system is.
I come from a long line of military members, but we went through the major world wars. Country defense a necessary evil.
My grandfathers fought in WWII and my father was in Army though he was still alive. and my brother who in the army currently.
My husband is a vetrean. I honored him this morning.
TO HONOR THOSE I SERVED WITH THAT DID NOT COME HOME
I'm just glad to see real patriotism again.
Both of my grandfathers were veterans.
Free housing.
