wow, so third culture is not as prevalent as i assumed. A3rd culture kid is someone who has spent a significant part of their developmental years in a culture different from their parents' home culture. At the same time, they’re not as assimilated into the melting pot/salad bowl of the society they grew up in. A third, unique option, commonly a blend of the two. They tend to adapt easy and get along with everyone, but struggle with their sense of belonging

Yes, I never knew that there was a name for this. My parents were the children of immigrants and they grew up in the inner city. My brother and me grew up in the suburbs which was a much different environment. I had an argument with my father because I wanted to buy a car when I turned 16. He told me that when he was 16 he could take a street car wherever he wanted to go , I told him that there were not manys street cars where we lived.

first culture = that of your parents

second culture = the one that you imprinted upon growing up/that of your environment

third is unique. neither of the first two but possibly a blend in between

I did however, grow up in two different cultures... right at the border but so did my parents... and my grandparents... great-grandparents, well... most of them, did come from other parts of the world

but your parents culture you wouldn’t say is unrelatable to you? if you’re in sync with your parents’ culture, regardless how diverse/inclusive it may be, then you are first culture. congratulations 😻
