Asylum because of economics? Hell no. That's basically half the world's population. Asylum is for people under the threat of imminent physical danger from war, religious or ethnic persecution, or political targeting.

Should economic refugees be refused entry? Hell no. But under our rules at our timing and depending on our needs. Most immigrants since the US was founded came here for economic opportunity that didn't exist in their country of origin. The Irish, Polish, Italians, Chinese, Japanese, Arabs, Mexicans, etc. all came here seeking a better life, not running from violence.

A lot of them are working under assumed identities and social security numbers of other people or dead people and are committing identity fraud. One of my co-workers from Mexico explained the whole thing to me. They pay a guy who is the "papers guy" who sets them up with a whole fraudulent identity
