This isn't really immigration in the normal sense. But yes. USA is absolutely dependent on its image to attract intelligent talent from elsewhere.

The notion presented that US citizens themselves are too dumb for it is a little misleading. The reality is rather that a relatively small country, compared to China and India, can not compete if it produces only average or, lets face reality, below average numbers of smart people. So USA needs educational immigration. And to be fair has not stopped it.

What has changed is the image. In the last decade it has gone from one of the most attractive places to study to one of the least. Not saying that for dramatic effect. I know graduating people who would outright decline harvard scholarships now. That is new and a result of the ongoing war on intelligence and reality more so than immigration.

Although typical immigration is also a benefit to the US. Trump could not find the answer to thinga if you drew him a map. He had to bribe a low end university l accept him in freaking real estate which you could get certified for in 2 weeks back then.

I used to live in a city where girls would get pregnant so they would qualify for welfare. My wife has a cousin that has 4 kids from 3 different guys and never married any of them.
