I think the classification could change to reflect the reality of such matters. Men are not always the victimizers, and women aren’t always the victims. However, men and women do face some differing challenges in understanding, accepting, processing and healing from victimization. So some of the resources should be separated out to make sure that male victims are getting the support they need to recover. I don’t think any single resource should be exclusive. If some women respond to treatment typically more effective to men, then they should have access. The reverse is also true. One of the biggest problems with heterosexual IPV cases is sheltering survivors. Many victims get extremely anxious around people who remind them of their abusers. So you can’t effectively house male and female victims together. There are NO shelters exclusively for men in the US. Most shelters are exclusively for women and children. The few shelters that do admit men, can and will kick male victims out if one of their female residents expresses discomfort, or if a woman or child comes along who needs the safe space and none are available. So we definitely need shelters exclusively for men, and we need resources available that are modeled to male victims’ unique needs.
Unfortunately, i don’t think any such things will ever come to fruition. The vast majority of people still hold onto wildly ignorant misconceptions about victims and victimization where men and women are mutually concerned. Furthermore, in the US in particular, neither major party even acknowledges male victims, let alone caters to them in any way.

I believe the conservative side of the aisle in the US acknowledges male victims far more than the liberal leftist side of the aisle where they only acknowledge female victims at the detriment of males.

Negative. To whatever extent conservatives acknowledge male victims they, just like the left, perceive those men as either weak or dangerous; neither of which have any place in the society we have created. The left ignores male victims as much as possible because they flat out hate men who don’t simper and kowtow to all women all the time. In short, both are most likely to tell male victims to suck it up or be marginalized swiftly and harshly.

In the uk they dont call it domestic abuse when the male is the victim, the renamed it gendered abuse so nobody knows what it is
