I identify as a Conservative, but I'm FOR all these. I think they should be mandatory for all American citizens; I view these as upgrades to our current society. I'm open to having my mind changed.
4 moah yes, the house that my dad was building got done faster and better the less he worked on it. by the time he was down to working 1 hour per week, it practically finished itself. look, if you dont wanna work, you're free to not work as a hobo and then die of starvation or exposure. there are simpler and more painless ways to commit "sewer-slide", or so i've heard. socialism is anti-life, that's why it always ends in poverty, starvation, death and destruction. it's funny how many people tried to sell me socialism over my life and whenever you ask: "ok cool, so do you have any pics of this awesome thing?" they either do not and make stuff up like ghost stories in religion class, or they do and they are total crapholes or they lie and show a capitalist country that you only find out later when you ask chatgpt about it. if you want to work 4 days a week, do so, see how far you get. if you wanna do the rest, become a gazillionaire and throw your money around like it's your last day on earth, see what happens in the world. normal people like you and i have become richer than certain small countries, so you can do it, too. maybe after having worked so hard you will have gained some appreciation for the fruits of your labor.

Anonymous(30-35)4 moWork- I worked a 4X10 work week and it was awesome. I arranged it so I would never have to work more than two days in a row.
Healthcare- I think it would be cost-effective to have a basic universal healthcare plan for everyone. I used to work with mentally challenged people and they would go to the emergency room every single day just for a social outing.
School- On top of K – 12 being free for the student, I would be willing to throw in another two years for a tech or trade school.
UBI- A universal basic income is every bit as inevitable as artificial intelligence. It's going to happen whether you want to or not.
Housing- Yes, but it would be more of a dormitory style setting. Your actual living area would be much smaller than a studio apartment. And you would have to be willing to be UA & BA tested daily.11 Reply

4 moNothing is ever “free”. Just because someone else is paying the tab, that doesn’t mean it costs nothing. Frankly it’s a childish way to perceive the world. Which is exactly why we don’t take seriously anyone who says that sh*t. When you learn how the world works and figure out how you’re going to pay for all your “free” sh*t, then we can talk.
It’s all great in theory, but you can’t just copy and paste those programs from other countries onto the US. We let capitalism get way too outta control here, and the rich and powerful will burn this country to the ground before they let us take it back. Actually, they’ll let their cronies burn it to the ground with their fears of “socialism” and “communism”. You don’t really think they spent all that time, energy and money installing “democracy” in third world regions, do you? 🤣🤣🤣 Democracy doesn’t return on their investment.
They were installing capitalism and banks that don’t have to abide by US laws, so that the fat cats could have new HQs for their multinational corporations if and when the people of the US ever wised up. If we levy meaningful taxes on them now, they just pack up and leave. We have no leverage against them. It’s too late. They won. We lost.10 Reply

4 moFree?
Everyone knows nothing is free. Governments take things. They take from anyone who produces.
This is the false utopia, evil Communists always sell. People keep falling for it.
Collectivism by the state has never worked and people have always suffered under these corrupt governments.
You cannot force people to work. For it to be free means peoples production is stolen. How is it "free"? Are teachers and doctors just working in mass out of the goodness of their hearts?
Where is this money coming from governments are just doling out?
How is inflation not going through the roof? Why work if I just get handed money?

1.3K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I would work 4 10s if I had that kind of schedule.
Our "normal" week is 56 hours, but that rarely ever happens.
Plus picking up extra shifts, comp time, overtime, all calls, trades it can very a lot.
As for free stuff, nothing is free, someone has to pay for it, usually in higher taxes.
I have talked to a number of people in countries where many things are included, however their tax rates are over 40 to 50% of their income and wait times can be quite long for just about everything.
So there are plusses and minuses with that.10 Reply3.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I think a 5-day work week is perfectly acceptable. If we do 4-day work weeks, it should be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. UBI is just another way to say an actually reasonable minimum wage. What we need to do is make minimum wage actually sustainable. A 10% increase in minimum wage drives prices up by 0.1% to 0.4% depending on what you look at. That's virtually negligible. Right now, no states operate under the federal level, because that's too low. What we need is a minimum wage that rises with the CPI, so as prices increase (because prices always increase) it will increase by the same percentage. I agree with the rest.

Anonymous(45 Plus)4 moI'm intrigued by the possibility of UBI. I don't think education should EVER have been for profit. I do think we should have at least a basic level of Healthcare. But considering that Healthcare makes up about 17 percent of the nation's economy now I don't see that ever changing either. And this is coming from a UNH shareholder. Housing I have less of a problem with. But yes I'll agree that fact that 1st time homebuyers being age 40 denotes a significant problem that needs to be addressed.

4 moOf course, I want everything for free. Someone or thing has to do the work, or produce the energy to get the work done. that has to be solved.
nothing is really free unless everything is free and we are all just working because we enjoy it.
ultimately it seems to fall apart due to laziness... sloth. If mykids didn't have to do anything, they wouldn't.
So it doesn't work...
10 Reply 1.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I support these things, not on principle though but because I am pretty sure that last time I checked studies on these they actually made people more productive and gave a greater return. As such, even if you ignore the public welfare and just focus on the economics of the situation it is still a net positive.
10 Reply4.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I have worked 70+ hours a week for years. At present I work 5days 10 hrs a day. I would love to work 4 days a week. I would even do 4 12 if it mad any difference. As for free health care we have that. But it's not free we pay for it in high tax dollars. As for some of the others who is going to pay for it. Nothing is really free. My taxes are already through the roof.

4 moI am against any socialist practice, so obviously I am against all of those. It might sound just a tiny bit hypocritical of me, given I just made use of "free education" - however, I am aware it is not free, but paid for in taxes - and if my family did not have to pay those taxes for education, my father might afford some even better, and at the very least equally good education for me. The only thing socialism succeeds in is deteriorating every aspect of the society.

4 moConservatives means conserve resist change , so your radical change proved you are not conservative. Saying you identify as a conservative is like identifying as anything you are not. Now a four day work week means longer hours those 4 days,. so bad. Basic income rewards laziness so bad etc.

4 moIf you identify as conservative and support those socialist ideals, you might be transpolitical. Conservative ideology is merit based and guarantees no outcome. The only thing it guarantees is that people work hard if they want to earn nice things.
00 Reply 12K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Democrats are in favor of them and Republicans are opposed to them. Democrats feelz that they deserve all those things. And they should be paid for by somebody else. See how that works?
20 Reply26.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. the 4 day work week is an idea whose time has come. Everyone should benefit from our enhanced productivity, not just s few. However the idea of freee stuff just smacks of communism. Somebody , somewhere has to pay.,

4 moA 4 day work week is alright if it's 10 hour shifts to get your 40. The rest borderlines on socialism and I'll have no part of.

4 moI am against them , but if Trump gets what he wants which is AI and robotic labor which will lead to 60% unemployment , we will have to have Universal Income. if not how will products made by Robots be bought. No job means no Income.

As things are now no. Universal Income would be more National Debt , which we can't pay off now. US is bankrupt.

No real Conservative could be for Universal Income. That is as Liberal as you can get. No real Conservative likes credit or Debt. People today just make up what they are and have no clue what being a conservative means.
