We know the velocity, including the direction, and we know within a few seconds when it hits Earth, and within a hundred miles of where it will hit. We know it will vaporize a couple of cubic miles of Earth, sending that and several more cubic miles of blazing hot Earth into the upper atmosphere. For several days until the heat radiates into outpace, the air is deadly hot. Even then, it will be full of unbreathable debris. During the first day, as the white hot earth falls to earth, fires will break out over much of the earth, sending a billion tons of soot into the atmosphere.

No place on the surface of the earth will be safe, nor where air can flow into. Knowing that, I would go 8,000 to 12,000 from where the comet hits. I have plenty of time, so I would dig a ten-foot deep hole, build a 10 feet diameter circular room with 6-nch thick reinforced concrete wall. The circular make it like an egg, hard to crack or break if the earth shifts. I would cover with a 6-inch thick, reinforced concrete dome shape top.

That would protect me from the outside air and several inches of red hot debris falling from the atmosphere. The room would hold sufficient air to breathe for several days. After that, with masks, it would be cool enough to go outside, and after several weeks, I wouldn't need masks. With the atmosphere full of soot, it would get freezing cold, and nothing would grow for a while. I would fill the room with plants that would survive with artificial sunlight. I would have plenty of seeds that I could plant a year later. I would build a nearby underground room and stock it with a year's supply of food, a month’s supply of water, and have a 50-foot deep well drilled for water.

I chose the second option. But right now I am single and do not have children. My stance might change if I did. And lets say you chill and enjoy your last moments and then it turns out you do make it. The smart thing is to prepare for either outcome, but avoid turning into an animal. I'd rather die a good person.

A plan in the absence of details is no plan at all, it’s just a fantasy. I do fantasize about the asteroid that ends humankind. Without details, i have no plan. Nobody does.
I can tell you this with certainty, any planetary calamity that can wipe out 75% will ultimately wipe out all of humanity. There aren’t enough extremely wealthy preppers on the planet for the species to survive that level of event. You have to be “crazy” enough to believe it will happen and have the resources to prepare for every stage of survival. I doubt there are more than a hundred worldwide. So even if they survive the collision, the ensuing global winter, and the violent clashes over limited resources between factions of survivors, the species dies out because of disease and inbreeding. Anyone who suggests otherwise is dreaming or selling something.
My only “plan” as of right now is to find a front row seat to the initial impact. If i can’t make that happen and i manage to survive, i’ll play it by ear. My last weeks on this planet will be absolutely savage and i’ll die bloody. This is the truth for most people.

We have a well-built, well-equipped, fully-stocked facility deep underground big enough to "comfortably" sustain approximately 30 indivdiuals for "maybe" a couple of months (only).

The other hope is to escape Earth which is why my husband & I jokingly asked Elon and Jeff (on separate occasions) if we can blast off into the heavens to temporarily seek shelter in the ISS or whatever they might have safely orbiting up above.

Elon said: "Thank you for believing we're capable. We can do it. Why not?"

Jeff said: "We can't make it that far yet but we might someday."

It all depends on where it's gonna hit if you're going to be miles and miles and miles and miles away from where it's going to hit, you might have a chance go underground. Someplace, where there's no gasses.
 A big enough area that it has air inside of it.
 Bunch of food water, whatever you got. Water is the most important But the moment that you know exactly what's going on , you take charge , take control and you fight , not with people , you fight to make it , you protect yourself with whatever it is that you have even if you have to block the entrance because the air quality will be bad. Probably and you want to hope the wind doesn't blow or if it does blow , it blows everything out to sea but I don't know anybody that would just give up. I mean, I couldn't just give up where there's a will. There's a way and you go to the bitter end to see if you make it and pray to God

I am at the end of life. It is not right for someone my age to attempt to live just a little while longer. Instead, the young and healthy should continue to live to rebuild and, hopefully, make the world a better place.

i'd do nothing, i don't mind dying. the world after the asteroid will probably be much worse than our already shitty world, not worth surviving for. besides i'm statistically much more likely to die anyways and i don't have the pretention to think i'd be in the 'lucky' group.

Not lie. My house has a bomb shelter and we prep with food but would that be good enough to survive long term let alone the intial commet hit i dont know.

there's the question of how long it takes for the dust cloud in the atmosphere to disapatiate. The situation with water. Food supplies. Then there's the situation with other survivors. Will I need to eventually bug out of my home which presents other problems.

Anything large enough to inflict that level of causalities on a global level is not gonna leave survivors. If the initial impact didn't kill everyone then the falling debris and the resulting toxic atmosphere would. No place on earth would be safe.
