Does it matter... we live in a world where retards try to argue that some dude with a big ole dick is a woman because he dresses up like a girl.

In segregated minority groups, Alex is usually reserved for males because of its association with the deceased political leader, but among Europeans and socialized minority Westerners, Alex is sometimes a female name as well, since it is associated with modern technology, and surrealist art.

I've known way more male Alex's than female, but because I've known 2 females with that name, I've always thought it could be a name for either gender

I would expect an Alex to be male without any other gender information. It is a contraction of course for Alexander or Alexandria but there are more Alexanders.

As the whole name, no, it's mostly a male name. Yet if it's a nickname, it's gender neutral, because names of both genders can be shortened to Alex.

Yes, it's gender neutral. Alex is a shortened form of Alexander (man) or Alexandria (woman).

My first name is Alex (I'm a guy) and I have met one or two females who have the same first name. At least I had no issues remembering their name!
