Why are funeral traditions so focused on immediate family only?

What do you think of other countries funeral traditions? Why is it most traditions are centered on the immediate family when everyone mourns the dead.

They are close and have to go through a process of closure. I recently went through a damn funeral... gawd it was cringe for me. My father in law's girlfriend... family hates him. Their family that is. So my ass and even his brothers show up to support him. I'm shaking hands with people I think I know because of the skin color and face tattoos,,, just gangstas from places I haven't touched yet, White boy in the hood doing what I do. I'm just a white fucker living in a brown people's world... I have to wait until I'm home to heil Hitler and they support that too. Bro they really hate liberals more than I do. lolz. Yeah... that was the thing about it all... I felt out of place because yeah I know this woman... but I'm not really family if that makes sence... I felt like it should've been reserved for just them... the people actually crying about it. I shouldn't be there... fuck man... people have real attachements and I just stroll up in ther and flop my dick on the table like it's a cocaine party.

My experience is different. All of the funerals I've been to, which includes each of my parents, were attended by immediate family, more distant family, friends and colleagues.

Nothing was limited to the immediate family.

As a specific example, my older cousin died a few years ago, and I (his cousin) was a pallbearer who helped carry the casket, along with his two sons, two daughters and son-in-law.

I get that you’re upset you weren’t allowed to look in your friend’s casket but they’re already buried by this point. If you need to be mad at the family, then take it out on a pillow or go to a rage room. As much as you might not enjoy it, the immediate family knew the deceased for longer than you, and are more likely to be more heavily affected by their death. They take priority over friends. It sucks, but there’s literally nothing you can do to change what’s already happened.

The funeral I went to was secular and focused on immediate family because no one else attended.

It was actually surreal and unexpected for me months ago - all of us were just family and extended family. Nobody else except the staff and such - wow 😇👀😈 it was so surreal, remains so to my memories. A big room and the front pews were just us - just us

Everyone mourns, and there's a place for everyone, but parents, siblings, and children have known the deceased all their lives (the survivors' or, worse, the deceased's). Life partners are given equal consideration.

I think funerals just drag out the grief. Cremate and burry. Get on with life. Grief is a madness. Dwell on it and it will kill you too.
