The democrats have long hated the fact Americans own firearms. Every year they hatch new ways to attack the Second Amendment. Often they use the same scams for this that they do other crimes. Moral panics really help politicians sell their laws.
Remember when Trump was pro-gun? Then, about a month or two ago, he turned on that since his ICE agents killed an innocent, armed man? It's also worth noting Trump has been a democrat and was friends with the Clintons.
Why do I bring this up? Because, now, he can demand that ammunition, for rifles, pistols, and shotguns, be government only, as a "war power," and for use by the military only. If I thought he was smart enough to think this far in advance, I would be worried. I hear Reds say his war is just and valid, to prevent nuclear weapons in Iran, but he's known for trying to divert attention from one of his problems to another. Killing a few thousand, or even million, non-white, non-American people would be nothing to him, or anyone is his Klan.
Honestly, if democrats would leave firearms alone, we wouldn't have this problem. The most recent attack I remember was directly on "military grade ammunition," over a school shooting where Full Metal Jacket ammunition, military style, was used and made by Winchester. Clinton attacked this too. But, you see, FMJ ammunition is the LEAST effective ammunition to use because it does not expand, like hunting ammunition does. This is a requirement accepted by most countries to reduce pain and suffering in war. IF we have this ammunition shortage, a quick fix would be to channel all military style (FMJ) ammunition into the military. What little is sold to civilians either doesn't meet the requirements of the military. Most of this doesn't matter to a civilian shooter anyway, as it doesn't effect performance, only storage or isn't/doesn't meet the requirements set forth by the military. This can be something as unimportant as lacking primer/bullet sealer or the wrong primer being used, even if most cartridges don't use sealer and there are many primers that will work, but the military calls for specific ones. This is like rejecting a pair of shoes because they aren't water proof or were made in China instead of the US. Actually, that was also a problem, dealing with war, but Trump may have changed that, like he had his Bible printed in China. He'll save money and put service members' lives at risk because he never served and has no idea about what he is doing.
Sadly, Trump could also dictate that US soldiers use hunting grade ammunition in HIS war. This would just tack on barbarianism to his list of war crimes. All it would take is to claim Iranians are "terrorists" and...
What is more troubling is, IF there is a shortage, that he may opt for WMDs, weapons of mass destruction. Remember, he can claim they are terrorists, argue this is a Crusade, or just decide to use Nuclear, Biological, or Chemical weapons, as many of his idols would/do. Two, right off, Polio and Smallpox, would be devastating, but could be "justified" because the US has the ability to produce vaccines, assuming he doesn't attack them like he did with other vaccines. Even if he did, that would just speed up the deaths of Americans he seems to hate so much.
Overall, no, I'm not satisfied. He's impulsive, temperamental, childish, and, basically, a teenage boy just entering puberty. Parts of his body haven't even had a chance to start growing up. If he wanted a war, he could back the Ukrainians against Russia and I could support that. But, his buddy, Putin, calls the shots here, and likely due to Epstein's honeypot.
Honestly, we rarely "plan" for war. We should be READY, just in case. But, the US isn't what it was and seems to be turning into our old enemy, the Nazis, as each day goes by. The only difference, today, is that the Party isn't National Socialism but being rich, so your pockets can be lined with even more plunder.

You make other very good points, but the above is smoke and bullshit. If it were true, they would have pushed through much stricter gun and ammunition laws when they control both Houses and the Presidency. The gun lobby is too strong and they always got key members to block any such legislation, but it's always made for great rhetoric between the parties.
Many times the D's have called for more sensible background checks and waiting periods, restricted use of certain automatic weapons and accessories, but this was not even remotely "attacking" the 2nd amendment, and the R's know this. Like I said, it makes for a great emotional rallying point while totally missing the point.

They expire. If you don't use them you lose them. We generally have a stockpile of about 4,500 on hand or there about and 1,000 was enough to take out the air defense network of the 16th most powerful military in the world, which utilized Chinese and Russian technology. Currently older Tomahawk missiles are being upgraded to extend their service life, because we have too many and aren't using them fast enough so as a result we slowed productions lines down to about 100 a year just to keep the companies in business maintain jobs and industrial infrastructure. We could produce more if they were demanded, but in reality we have plenty.

@Pohjolan President Trump is squeezing the life out of Iran and now has a blockade preventing ships from going in and out. Their oil producing infrastructure will be destroyed unless they can offload some of their oil into tankers and once that happens they are done for.
@exitseven Closing oil wells hurts them but they are easier to reopen in a warm climate. The blockade isn't 100% like grain ships are permitted to pass last I checked and vessels are going back and forth between Iran and Oman. Moreover the Caspian sea is open for them and all their land neighbours haven't ended trade either. How fast this ends depends on US demands obviously like iranians are willing to go back to the pre-war status quo.
