I mean humble is never unattractive in the way being a pompous ass is repulsive. But yeah, I think there's a balance between being too humble and not recognizing your own worth aka low self esteem and being an obnoxious braggart covering up massive insecurities.

It looks something like quiet confidence and being able to accept a compliment gracefully but never being one to boast of your own magnificence. Also, I think it involves introspective thought and the ability to look at ourselves honestly and see our own flaws and talents.

I don’t see any other species communicating amongst itself using a small hand held device that glows and is attached to absolutely nothing

I think humanity is underrated in a lot of ways

    But also destructive.

I just realized I misread the question 😅
      I read “humility” as “humanity”…

      To answer the actual question:
Where I’m from there’s a saying that’s also common in our neighboring countries, “those who are shy and humble are dead”.

It’s essentially a warning against letting humility turn you into a pushover.

Why it’s important to have balance and not be egotistical either, I believe that if you truly live life with purpose you cannot be humble about it.

Very humble people often feel undeserving deep down.
      Like an imposter.

I wouldn’t encourage it in myself or anyone I care about

It’s all well and good to be proud and confident, but you can be confident and humble at the same time. I’m reluctant to be overly proud considering pride is the source of the shame I feel on a pretty regular basis. Letting go of that is not an easy thing to do. Humility is very underrated in my opinion.

Yes, we are just one step in evolution. Probably the lest of that leads to creation of artificial beings without biological bodies.

If I'm honest biological bodies are crap. Bio slime that contains 98% water

    I guess that's everyone's choice...

personally, I appreciate all that's genuine... for better or worse

and a truly humble person or approach to life is one I appreciate, because being humble is not an act, it's just a way of being... so that in itself has tremendous value and worth and it brings benefit to most, in most cases...

other than that... different people might have different ideas and perceptions of what humility actually is, and that's because, again... some act and pretend to be, rather than just being themselves...

I'm not sure. If you had asked me this 30 years. ago, I'd have said, "no". But I've observed this world all that time and I've seen what happens to narcissistic people. They become president, they run giant corporations, they become reality stars even though they have no discernable talent. They have about a dozen women chasing after them. And they become extremely wealthy.

So while I still believe in humility, I know the majority (especially women) in this world, would rather have an entertaining fantasy then plain reality. They'd rather believe and interesting lie than a ordinary truth.

Someone too humble? Uh I suppose too much humility can equate to apathy? Which doesn't seem that desirable.

Someone too down to earth? I see that case often lol, it means a lack of imagination to me, someone so focused on the practical aspects of life that discussions with them feel AI-ish but even more boring.

Humility overrated, nope, that does not happen, we've built a world that has very little use for humility. Humility doesn't sell, grand fireworks do sell instead.

People need to be humble on their own, not have to say it out loud since at that point it becomes bragging about being humble which is the opposite effect you want to give off.

Humility is a good thing, but if your opponents who have power in high places don’t stop for one second to destroy the world and collapse the people’s infrastructure for their own benefits then you need to give up humility and get in the mud with them to protect your constituents and their needs.

    Sometimes it's an act

People want to be liked so there's a certain way to behave. Like saying sorry when you haven't done anything wrong... Just you know the other person feels put out.

Okay so maybe you spoke too fast, too pushy you say sorry to smooth things over

But people in office are extremely polite. Thank you blah blah blah because a senior person deemed to speak to them.

i mean you can alwas do too much but i think most people have too little humility. so i think on a societal level we're far off having too much of it overall.

That's fucking ridiculous, and you should hang your head in shame.

It's like asking if "honesty" is something overrated.

What you probably mean to ask is the difference between humility and fake humility.

I was humbled and down to earth, but people have taken my kindness or my help as a way of making me look superior to them.
So I stopped being helpful to anyone.
Now I have no friends or family
