Should we abolish the U.S. legislature since it no longer works?

I mean, these people have proven that they are completely ineffective, and they do absolutely nothing of any value anymore. They cannot control Trump. They pass legislation that the Republican Supreme Court deems to be unconstitutional or unenforceable if it bothers at all, and there is no reason to even have these people around. They do nothing but cost us money, and they add nothing, no quality to our lives at all. We should get rid of them.

No. It's an essential part of the US government. Elect better representatives and senators, instead.

There are far more voters want to get big money out of politics than not. There are far more voters who don't want wars of choice than do. There are far more voters want affordable health care than not. Fewer voters want to keep supporting Israel's genocidal wars than oppose them.

You need to elect enough Democrats that the corrupt ones that are beholden to Israel or their donors are drowned out by the ones that want to do right by the country.

To be clear, even the most corrupt Democrat is better than any Republican; Republicans in Congress are the ones not doing anything against Trump. It only takes a few of them voting with the Democrats to make a difference (like the War resolution that would stop the war in Iran, which caused the Republican leaders to go on holiday early rather than face a vote).

We're the only country in the world where the legislative body can be overruled by a court who didn't even take part in writing the laws. That's stupid.

I believe people are not ready for your suggestion yet. Too avant-garde, you would face too much backlash.

But the odds would improve if the US was getting bolder using both liberalism and authoritarianism levers. But not everyone can be China, there are rules to respect to get to that dream.

if the goal was control trump, then they failed but that is not the goal. the president DOES have authority. congress recently undid democrat damage for example law 119. or gave more help to disabled veterans. meaning injured soldiers.

It isn't quite like that. The legislative share is a group of people. Who've been given the opportunity to engage in massive corruption. Much like the executive has. Interestingly and do so with impunity. As a tax paying citizen. I resent that but more importantly, I also find that it serves no useful purpose for me or my fellow citizens. So why do we continue to maintain this well because it's mandated in our constitution (as are many other things that are now being ignored or desecrated by our executive) and it is also expensive and distracting. I think we could easily eliminate the legislature entirely and probably most people wouldn't even notice or care. I know I wouldn't. They do nothing of any value as far as I can.
