Rich ONLY if I can remain anonymous, unseen, like smoke on the wind, moving through life and social groups with no undue attention. Fame is a prison. And the constant attention of others is tiring. Plus you never know who you are attracting.

• I value my freedom to do what I want, go where I want, with whomever I want, whenever I want. Fame would pretty much end that.
• I don't need the adulation of a million random strangers to validate myself.
• Inevitably some of those fans are gonna be stalkers or mentally disturbed in some other way. Nah, I'll pass.
• Fame can set you up as a target for criminals. Look at what's going on with these South American gangs targeting NFL / NBA players and music stars / actors.

Rich. I wouldn't want to deal with fame - being recognized, approached by and fawned over by strangers or having things written about me, my life and opinions by gossip columnists and journalists. Fame sounds horrible.

I would like to have enough money to do what I want while remaining incognito and being treated like a regular person.

Rich. Money is useful. Getting annoyed by everyone recognising you isn't.

Rich and unrecognized. Famous is. a PITA. It's ok to be famous as long as one isn't generally recognized -- not a famous entertainer or athlete.
