Are grocery prices falling, or was my $40-cheaper bill a fluke?

Are grocery prices falling, or was my $40-cheaper bill a fluke?

I go shopping about every two weeks, buy pretty much the same things, and my bill has consistently been about US$220 for the past several months.

The other day, I bought the usual same things and the bill was US$180, 40 dollars cheaper than normal.

Are grocery prices actually going down, or was this a fluke?

FYI, a few years ago, I was typically paying US$150 for the same groceries.
