Feels like a scam. Grade school was a load of bullshit that would waste 8 hours of your day and then sent us home with 8 hours worth of work. Many hours spent sitting in those retarded chairs just to watch the Wizard of Oz or some Disney movie for the 25th time. History was just a massive load of "white man bad" and the other subjects spent waaaaaaay too much time on skills you'll never use in the real world. If you're great and memorizing bullshit, you were great in those schools, but still retarded as shit.

@Laws-Of-Existence Most of my teachers were butt ugly and the bulk of my grade school years had me on lockdown and seperated from my peers... long story short, I got pushed into a girl, she hit me, and I Spartan kicked her accross the classroom. School got big mad and I was basically not allowed to mingle from 4th grade all the way to the end of 6th grade. Basically I was the kid with his own special desk that was no longer allowed to speak or go to lunch.

In Germany, yes for being well-rounded, not so much for putting too much emphasis on putting your hand up to answer questions, even if you think they're obvious.

I'm sure the British education system has changed a bit since the 1970's, but it had its points, for example, relatively early specialisation (at 14, then further at 16, dropping subjects that didn't interest me) suited me and I graduated from university and entered the workforce when I was 20, which is pretty much unheard-of in Germany.

Not really. Public school system is failing and private school system is expensive. Universities teach lower standard stuff to more international students every year. Degrees are cheap and worthless so people spend a lot on pointless masters degrees. There are at least good loan schemes for tuition and the lecturers tend to be friendly and interesting folk.

What education system? We do not have an education system. Students entering college in some states need remedial reading, math, and cursive writing. Other states have high school students with the reading level of a kindergarten student. Thank you, Randy Weingarten.

Nope, we spend the most money and don't even rank in the top 10. Probably because teacher salaries have only gone up 3% since the 70s, yet we have increased funding to schools by 150% in the same time period.

The quality of education here, once people get past high school, is very good. The problem with the education system is that it's expensive as hell and, as a result, not particularly accessible.
