I plan on moving to the US with my husband. Our son will either be raised in California, Texas or another state.
We'll raise him a non-believer. My American husband and I are non-believers. Is secular parenting in the US indeed rare? I'm wondering because even though our numbers are increasing over the years, religious parenting still seems to be the default blueprint, the norm. Even within my family members, most older ones can't understand why we aren't going to do the traditional baptism to our son. To them we're seen as so different.

Kind of depends where you go. I’d say the Southeast, The Midwest, and the Rocky Mountain states are kind of the last bastions of hardcore Christianity. That’s where they have what I consider “the bad version of Christianity, and it steers our people into having the insane political views that holds our country back from progress.
They have these huge megachurch complexes, half of them believe there’s an “end of the world” coming, aka “the rapture”, and that one day Jesus will return, the believers will ascend to Heaven, leaving the earthly world behind, and everyone else will remain and be killed by the wrath of God….. and as you could imagine, your judgement calls you start making related to an Earth that you think is just temporary and will eventually burst into flames and become a funeral pyre for sinners and non-believers, lmfao.
Like we have people in our government, including the head of our Defense Department (that is know being called the “WAR” department…. lmfao, harrrrrrrrdoooooooo🙄😝 We’re just so damn tough now, I can’t even handle it, lmao.), who believe our military action in Iran, in assistance of Israel, will bring about The Rapture and The Second Coming, because we’ll have restored the original lands of Israel.
Like you should be locked in a padded room for believing this stuff, but we aren’t allowed to say anything because we have to respect everyone’s religious beliefs, no matter how crazy and harmful🙄 But this is exactly why we always aimed to keep church and state separate. It’s an absolute mess when you don’t, because these people believe everything about themselves is righteous and can’t possibly be wrong, which again, is super dangerous societally. The states of New England, New York/New Jersey/Eastern Pennsylvania, the Chicagoland area (Chicago, Illinois and its metro region), and the West Coast are really the only places in the country I’d ever feel safe living in, with regards to the people who populate the area. Everywhere else is kind of suspect to me, and a lot of it, downright frightening.
I usually try to tread lightly when it comes to people’s faith, but this is just…. i don’t know, man😂

Otherwise people like this might be your neighbors and the ones steering local politics. Like they won’t teach your kids about dinosaurs because it would look bad for The Bible, lmfao
The US isn't some sharia Muslim nation that requires things by law.
Practice what faith you want.
Raise your child as religious or not.
Even most Christians won't care that much.
🤷♂️
Who cares if you're a non believer, it's not me who will burn in hell 😂
Many Americans are cultural Christians but don't have a testimony.
I don't know why you'd raise your child to be lost.
You'll be fine.
