Am I the only one who is not surprised that the EU has been buying gas and diesel from Russia? hypocrites?

Unlike MAGA, informed people understand that international trade can't just be shut off overnight like Trumpty Dumpty thinks it can. The U. S. still imports coffee and bananas from Latin America even though MAGA hates them all and considers them sub-human. You trade with people you don't like. Been going on for decades. Trade is trade. Business is business. If Russia turns off the tap to Europe they're fucked. They can't replace that income overnight. They got a war to fight. And the U. S. is buying oil off Russia now too. So fuck off MAGA.

Most average Europeans just want the conflict to end, it's governments that want to push it further. Some western European governments have even floated out public sentiments about sending troops directly to Ukraine. Madness, utter madness.

[DryGermanGuy]

The European governments have no say in the matter, the Ukrainian people do. If you have a good idea how you would stop the madman Putin on his trip to recreate the Soviet Union, by all means, let us know.

@Xoir

I have an idea; rather than sending troops to Ukraine, why don't all the countries stop buying things from Russia?

@DryGermanGuy I am all for the Ukrainian people, unfortunately the meddling of the UK government in particular scuttled any chance for early peace talks, so now any future Ukraine has is dark since they lost so many men.

[DryGermanGuy]

There were never any chances for peace talks. Putin's stance is "surrender or else", then and now. They only get the message after being soundly beaten. See Afghanistan.

We're signing up to do the same, aren't we? It's all about money and costs...

I'd like chickens to not suffer in crowded farms, but I can't afford to buy $8 free range eggs. There are ideals, but there are also financial realities.

[shish_kebab]

We are signing up to do the same thing that the other 40 countries have been doing. The difference is the other 40 countries criticize the USA for doing what they're doing. Orange man bad.

The rest of the world just wants America to shut up and keep paying the bills.

[shish_kebab]

Eggs were $8 a dozen when Biden was president. And I'm not talking about the range fed ones.

[Screenwriter]

@shish_kebab I suppose they were in some partss of the country. And if they were that price, I'd live without them. That $8 was due to covid issues and bird flu deaths. Had nothing to do with wars against Ukraine or Iran. ... Commodity pricing is volatile. So many factors and countries do what they need to to soften blow to citizens. They can criticize all they want. Everybody's grumbling about something.

[shish_kebab]

I did think it was strange of you to talk about eggs when the conversation was about oil.

[lilBigPotato]

It's a problem because of a few countries who are a lot more dependant on it. wish they'd manage to stop but them but seems difficult.

[NathanDavis]

that's been known since day one though... but it doesn't matter

poeple don't care

[Alexandrubaschet08]

It was never a secret.
An yes it is and is as well a betray of Ukraine!

[FrodoSkywalker007]

Makes attacks on Trump seem dumb 🤷‍♂️

I think it's a mistake, but Europeans are the peak of hypocrisy

[shish_kebab]

No shortage of hypocrites in this world.
