President Donald Trump, who has spent years railing against mail-in voting — falsely claiming it undermines the integrity of elections and invites massive fraud — is now urging voters in deep-red Montana to mail in their votes.

“Early voting is underway,” Trump told participants in a MAGA Inc. get-out-the-vote telephone rally, in which voters received automated calls inviting them to stay on the line or press 1 to join a call from the president. “If you have your mail-in ballot, walk in and do whatever you have to do, or you can show up on November 3rd.”

Isn't it interesting how quickly the position changes when the circumstances call for it? For years, Trump has spoken against mail in voting and raised doubts about its reliability, but now he's encouraging his own supporters to use it. 😂

I don't have a problem with people voting by mail. If it's a legal option, people should be free to use it. What I find interesting is the inconsistency. If mail in voting is acceptable for Republican voters in Montana, why has it been portrayed as such a serious threat when other people use it?

You can't keep telling people a system is unreliable and then encourage them to use it when you need their votes.

Yeah, the problem here is that Trump thinks he can actually do anything he wants, and this would include telling people that a system is unreliable and then subsequently encouraging them to use it. He either doesn't see the hypocrisy in this, or he sees this as hypocrisy and knows that its followers will overlook it. This is the guy some people elected president. Help those people who are completely ashamed of themselves.

They still want to get as many Republican votes as they possibly can, and even in a deep red state, there are still people who are smart enough not to vote for Trump.

I think his original idea about "mail in voting bad" was to get R's to vote "day of" so that they would race out to an early lead and he could try to declare "early victory". Something like that.

Trump has always been for mail-n voting. All he ever asked for is that you ask for the ballot and not be given one like candy corn on Halloween.
