Define rights. I posted a video from the Show the The Chosen Because i think it clearly answers this question. In another part of the show Jesus said he's come to deliver the "good news" that the kingdom of heaven is at hand. And that this generation is missing it, do not miss it. Because if we all lived by Jesus's teachings what a beautiful world this would be. But we live in a world that God ALLOWS Satan dominion over. He allows Satan to tempt us. And without God in our lives we have no hope against Satan the prince of lies. Even with God in our lives, Satan's attacks on us will not stop. That is why we must always keep our eyes fixed on God.
In this video Jesus says this world belongs to God, the Romans just live in it. And ascribe empty sayings to coins. In other words you belong to God, whether you accept him or not does not change that reality. But because God is a loving God he will not force his rule over your heart. Man is evil by nature. No matter what good we do in this world we are still evil by nature. We are ruled by our mortal human weaknesses.
In short, man can give or take away rights of another man. But those are imposed by someone is flawed themselves. God's righteousness is perfect. Try to think of any good you seen in man is just a reflection of God's infallibleness... actually i don't think "infallibleness" is a word, but you get the idea.🤣
https://www.youtube.com/embed/_LLwlJn_AUMI don't know if there really is such a connection between how our parents were and how we see god, or if it is very mechanical way that ideas are killing feelings, but if i imagine a reminder that there's a creator then it is impossoble for me to enjoy just looking at trees doing nothing. If i remind myself that all my religious ideas were nonsense then i am able to become a happy as a clam witnessing nature.
Which is very ironic. On the one hand religious people are often anti technology, yet feeling a "creator" presence makes me feel like nature needs to be dominated with inventions. On the other hand, the worry free enjoyment of nature is exactly what a hypothetical creator would want from us, enjoying nature is using the bodies he hypothetically gave us in a room of art he hypothetically created.
What kind of rights do you mean? …. PS) @ChiTown33 is clearly out of his fu*king mind, and didn’t understand the assignment, and sky-high of Jesus juice.
@Tamera952 any type.
For example, legal rights, right to safety, right to bodily autonomy.
Anything. Rights in general.
That is one of the oldest and most fiercely debated questions in philosophy, politics, and law.
I don’t know, maybe a combo of all of these:
*) Natural Rights:
Rights are not invented by humans; they are discovered. Life is intrinsically valuable. They are inherent to human existence simply by virtue of being alive and sentient. Governments don't grant these rights; governments are created to protect them.
*) Legal Rights:
Humans make a social contract: we surrender some absolute freedoms to a governing authority in exchange for guaranteed protections. But then rights only exist because the government says so, then a tyrannical government can legally strip them away.
*) Cultural and Evolutionary Rights:
Rights are evolutionary adaptations. They are rules communities develop over generations to survive, cooperate, and reduce internal violence.
*) Power and Struggle Rights:
Historically, those in power do not willingly grant rights out of the goodness of their hearts. Rights are the spoils of war won by marginalized groups through protest, revolution, strikes, and civil disobedience.
*) Creator? …umm, no. Don’t know about or think that factors in in any meaningful way. That’s fanciful and comical.
I answered the question @Tamera952 that was the assignment. He brought up the creator not me🤦♂️ , I ask respectfully for you to keep the namecalling to yourself. Thank you!
We have natural rights given by God. That is the only authority I answer to.
The idea that I have inherent rights as defined and granted by the King, or Burnham, or parliament, is contemptible and laughable. And in any case, the social contract has been broken.
Although what I found interesting is that should a human's DNA be altered, apparently there are test cases where they become property of the corporation. Something to ponder on for those who got the convid vaccines...
Rights are the results of actions by our ancestors and reflect the needs of their time. The Rights we enjoy today are simply how they pacified the masses and kept them onside. But end of the day they're just lines on parchment and can be removed at any time.
I believe that rights are endowed by the creator. We all have natural rights. But people in power strip us of our rights by force in order to control us for their own benefit.
They're inherent to the person, and defended by ones power. If you don't pay the cost to attain and keep that power, you lose it to the ones that do.
There is no creator and they aren't dependent on who is in power, so no.
Depends on who's in power
So, rights are societal constructs?
Depending on who is in power, I think God has better things to do than give or take away rights.
Depends who is on power
Do you believe rights are societal constructs?
God is the only creator
It’s dependent on who is in power and laws
Given by God
