Look at Hideo Nomo and Ichiro Suzuki. They were among the best players in Japan. Then they came to the US and joined a MLB team. They both won rookie of the year despite the fact that they were already elite players from playing in Japan. They aren't really rookies.

Yes, it's unfair for seasoned players to be competing with actual rookies for what I assume is a meaningless title.

Rookie of the Year is basically meaningless because it doesn't indicate future success. Once pitchers or batters start recognizing your style (2nd year for a bv after 3rd year for a pitcher), you have to prove that you are still good.

They didn't play NORTH American Major League Baseball, which despite the improvements in the Asian leagues, is still decidedly the world's best baseball organization.

most competitive, but Japanese and Korean baseball are essentially AAAA+ compared to MLB which means it is almost essentially facing teams that are around.500 in MLB, still not easy unless you can play well.
