Did the German Soccer Team do the right thing to redesign its jersey?

The German Soccer Team and Adidas, its supplier, are redesigning the team's jerseys over claims that the number 44 looks like the Nazi SS symbol.

What do you think? Here's the Nazi SS symbol...

Do they really look similar? Is it the correct decision to redesign the jersey?

It does look similar, I saw it even before I read your question... as to whether it's a coincidence... it it wasn't Germany I'd be convinced of it. But I'm conflicted. by the way you know what country has a lot of nazism and doesn't even try to hide it? Ukraine, a country which we're all guilt tripped to support. Wouldn't surprise me if it's making a comeback... especially that screaming antisemitism would be very convenient for Israel with what they do to the people of Palestine. And nobody cares about any other victims of Germans, such as Poles etc anyway.

Germany's usually sensitive about it's past so I'm surprised it took so long before they took action. It's not an exact match but it's close enough for lots of people to want it and that raises other questions

Unfortunately, German neo-Nazis are that kind of stupid and actually go for hidden symbols like that. Starting in the nineties, the clothing brand "LONSDALE" became popular, because you could show the combination "NSDA" with an open jacket. Yes, it has no "P" and yes, it's moronic. The swastika is a banned symbol, so the scene shops started selling shirts with the word "Hakenkreuz" or "HKNKRZ" on it. Those people buy that. And the German DVLA registers had to stop giving out number plates with "88" and "SS" because of the same behavior.
