Does it seem like interest in the Super Bowl is declining this year?

It’s like no one is really hyped about it. Most of the churches here do a watch party usually every year , but it seems like no one is interested this year. Are people getting tired of football? Or is it just the current state of affairs?

I think that in general the entire entertainment world has been diluted so much over the past couple of decades that no one event gets as much attention as it used to whether it's the Oscars or a beauty pageant with a super bowl.

When I grew up there were basically three television channels maybe four. Everyone watched the same things. You didn't have any choice.

Now there's like 10 million different channels and so many more companies that are creating content. Plus there's 75 years of reruns and classic shows and movies some of which even have their own channels. So it dilutes the pool of fans for every show and it's virtually impossible for them to draw the same percentage of viewers that they used to.

And that doesn't even talk about the other forms of entertainment that aren't even broadcast such as video games and other forms of online entertainment.

So I wouldn't expect the super bowl to have the same percentage of viewers that it used to. They really aren't any of the major events that do. They all have dwindling viewership.

The same team reaching it 3 years in a row is boring. A lot of people think the officials/organizers are helping them advance. I also think people are sick of the Chiefs, Taylor Swift and her boyfriend. If there was a team from the western USA, I would watch it.

Absolutely and if it’s not really your hometown team or the surrounding teams that you care about most people aren’t really tuned in. Sometimes we love the commercials that they’ve had like the Clydesdale and the race with the beer commercial but not a lot of hype this year.

No idea but in France is it much more popular and talked about than in 2018 for example, in the last fews years it has gotten pretty popular (of course not a lot compared to other sport but it's ways easier to watch American football now than before).

not sure seen a lot of bars advertising super bowl viewing parties this year some of them didn't do anything last year. although not really sure if people will show up or not , these bars might just be desperate for money too and figure its a possible way to score some easy cash

I was never really fond of the Superbowl (or NFL as a whole to begin with). The game are too long, and more than half of that time is spent on stoppages than the actual play, which typically last for a few seconds most of the time.

yes, two teams that nobody cares about. The network has tried to play up the Taylor Swift thing and the possibility of the threepeet. I do not think it mskes a lot of difference.

From what I hear the TV ratings broke a Superbowl record. People even tuned into that halftime show.

It is a game with a ball.
Too much hype, takes too long to complete, too may ads, that run after the game, and now you can view most of them online before the game.

Wouldn't bother me. I've never been interested in it! The only good part about football is the cheerleaders. But, it's not even worth watching just for that.
