Quora is a question/answer website that has many users from all over the world with various views. I created an account on there but I’ve noticed that quora has both pros and cons. First up are the cons
1.) Bias
That website is filled with far left people who don’t respect opposing views, if someone posts something that doesn’t fit certain standards, they’ll reply with a long rant on why they think the person is bad for having those views.
2.) Bad anonymous feature
Quora has anonymous feature but it is bad. Asking anonymous questions or posting anonymous answers are as if the user never asked or wrote the answers considering that they aren’t associated with the account that posted them. The only way a person can interact with their own anonymous posts is by saving a link.
3.) You have to use your real name
Perhaps one of the main policies that tends to make people think twice before starting an account on that site is that people have to use their real name on that site. Now, of course there is a work around by using a believable fake name but there is always a risk that people will know you’re using a fake name.
4.) Rude people
Despite quora priding itself with having “professional” members, a good portion of the people on Quora are very snide who are only looking for opportunities to insult other Quora members.
5.) Long answers only
On Quora people are only allowed to give long answers which are around 2-3 paragraphs long.
Now here are the pros of Quora
6.) You can edit your answers and comments
Quorans can edit their answers and comments, this is a good feature to fix any typos people make or if there are some clarifications that need to be made.
7.) You can delete your comments and answers
Perhaps somebody said something that they didn’t mean to say, so people can delete any answers or comments they post. You can also delete any comments people make on your answer, this is good way to decrease activity from people.
8.) Infinite space to write
People have infinite space to write what they have to say in answers, blogs and on their profiles. This is good for those that like to be very detailed.
Overall Quora is not a bad website but it still has room for improvement.
