Now they are three reasons why this pisses me off:

Issue 1:

ITS 2018
ITS 2018

We are in the 21st Century. We have better technology. If we got rid of dial-up modems, we can do better than this. We need information given to us now. Not later.

Issue 2: Information needs to be moved and moved fast.

The person being detained had a bail that needed to be paid in two installments: $2,000 and $1. Correctional officers at Rikers received the $2,000 payment, but she didn’t get confirmation that they had received $1. It was getting late, so Follmann called to ask if there was a problem.

“They said, ‘Our fax machine is down and we’re trying to get it fixed,’” Follmann explains. “I said, ‘Is there any way to get around this?’ They said, ‘No, we’re trying to get it fixed.’”

As a legal professional, this would be annoying to a client who is trying to get a person out of jail. This also can be applicable to LEOs who are trying to get information in regards to warrants, or other documentation in regards to people. Including missing persons.

As for medical professionals...

here's my 2 cents....

Despite confusion and frustration, though, the business of faxing continues on. Part of this has to do with an interpretation of a clause in HIPAA, a U.S. health-privacy law, which requires health providers to take reasonable steps to safeguard patient information. Because this rule explicitly mentions fax and not email, some providers interpret the law to mean that records must go by fax.

Okay I get this. But in cases, all medical information usually is encrypted and sent on secure servers to where it has to go. You can also set a password when sending the information. Usually all the information is sent via Adobe, and you can include a password protection on there as well..

ISSUE 3: ITS the 21st CENTURY

hmmm
hmmm

They are all in ones. We had one in my office, and in the precinct I worked in. All on networks. Everything is all in one. documents get sent faster, processes is completed faster.
