I do not text much and find it hard to maneuver my big fingers on a little touch screen. If I am not at a keyboard and texting from my cell phone the messages will be short.

Not necessarily, but this person really has no energy to add to the conversation. If they don't want to talk they wouldn't be replying and some people are just a waste of time to talk to

It really depends on context, some questions can be answered with a single word. If they don't ask anything back they do want to wrap it up.
