I have a friend who texts in all caps. He's actually a very nice guy and it doesn't bother me. He told me once he never yells when he actually talks to other people (not texting but talking in person).

Yes, and they would not be able to convince me otherwise. Since one has to deliberately tap the caps lock button TWICE to keep it on before they begin to text. And if theyre not socially inept then they should know how putting words in all caps would come across. Especially if they have ready any piece of literature before. Like co me on? I would be insulted if a person kept doing that to me.
I only tolerated one person who did that and after the second conversation I told them Im going to have to stop talking to you and block you if you keep, "all capping me" via text since I told you what that implies.
If the entire thing is in caps, they probably just write that way. I used to do it, partly because, before I ever got online, I started compiling lists of my records and it was a major pain in the ass to either keep capitalizing the first letter of every word or to have to go back and do that again because the shift key decided not to work every time I'd use it so, I just switched to all-caps to make it a LOT easier and because, when it came time to print those out, they could be much more easily read in all-caps.
SOMETIMES I do all-caps on certain words just for emphasis because there might not be an underline, bold or italics function and because you can't type inflection.
If most of what I've written is normal and only a sentence or two is all-caps, that's yelling. Especially if there's lots of exclamation points after it.
I guess I’d just take it in context, but I do recognize all-caps to signify either yelling , if it’s a group of all-caps words, or if it’s just a word or two, I read that as if it was emphasized verbally. Like “Oh man, I just can’t win today. I missed my bus and had to walk to work, AND as soon as I started walking it started raining!”
Yes, or trying to make a point- same with emails.
I had a coworker that used to type in all caps until I asked him, "Why are you yelling?" He said he wasn't. He just had the caps lock on, lol.
Some people just don't care I guess? I make sure to correct them, or ask why they're doing so, because receiving texts or emails in caps bothers me.

If the texted is over 50 years old I just have to understand that that is how they text.
"HI VAL HOPE YOUR HAVING A GOOD WEEKEND THIS IS YOUR UNCLE"
Or of close the old classic ellipses texters. Also over 50.
"Hi Val... happy birthday... hope you can visit soon..."
And to all my 50 kings and queens out here, I'm probably not talking about you but it's a thing, don't @ me.
That would be stupid to think lol. I don't think so. I use text for emphasis on important words as bold features are not in every app or just not as quick to access... it also aids eyesight
Yeah I personally don't see a problem with it. Other people think it's rude but really everyone has flaws. And the fact that he texts in all caps isn't a serious issue. If someone doesn't like it then that person can just tell him. He asked me once about it and I said I didn't mind or it wasn't a problem. Something like that.
Lol if anything it's strange.. because not many people do it... but if someone is so easy to take offense they will not be happy in life... "the QUICK taking of offense resides in the boosm of fools" Eccl 7:9
Recall when someone made that accusation of me several years ago. Until then i was oblivious to the "convention." Like the older me, maybe to him it's still just a text. Let him know of the perception if it bothers you. If he continues, THEN you'll know his intent.
to me its not moaning its just saying it loud and serious way so people know am being serious and herd with text if u can't be annoyed speaking seripus on the phone and have people misunderstand u with being nasty
Some people type in caps not realizing that it is the online equivalent to yelling. So, sometimes it is just that they don't know better. I learned that early on when the internet was still new... LOL
No exclamation mark then it's probably not yelling.
Example:
HEY WHAT ARE YOU DOING
VS.
HEY WHAT ARE YOU DOING!
VS.
HEY WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!
Same can be said for
Hey what are you doing!!!
Yeah that’s weird. Most time when people text in caps they are trying to give a “tone” because they can’t do it in person. Very few would do it without knowing what it means.
I would think so…. but I think you have to try to figure out if that is just the way he texts. I tend to use peoples names when I text them as well as put … to break up thoughts and people tend to think I’m angry or upset with them.
Depends maybe they are just excited but I tend to feel how a text you know feels like when you read a text you can feel if it is good sad happy you know
Well if one word is capitalized it's fine because they're just trying to point it out but if it's all capitalized then yes I'll think they're yelling because they are mad.
Usually yes, but some sites don't have italics so when they want to emphasize a specific word they may use all caps for one word. That is what I do.
I just have to use context clues...
YES, YOU'RE RIGHT!!! I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE DO THAT!!! DON'T THEY REALISE THEY CAN TURN THAT OFF?
Definitely. I’m pretty sure that’s a common understanding. You should talk them out of it, if possible.
at work we need to use caps always. But outside work, depends on who’s caps locking me 😂
Typed word is its own language, part of that language is that all caps means a raised voice or am emphasis... It is considered impolite to type in all caps. This may simply need to be explained to your friend.
Texting in ALL CAPS violates one of the basic texting rules... it's impolite. Some think it's the equivalent of yelling.
That'd be my understanding if someone was texting in all caps that they are yelling.
sometimes I feel like they're sneezing really loud
CHERRY YES I THINK I DO LMAO. No. it all depends on the message lol
Yup but I’ll call and yell if they do all that. 🙅🏻♀️
I typically reserve caps for when I REALLY need them! :- )
No, I like the mix and match of lower and upper case to show sarcasm.
Sometimes, it also helps in describing something.
Yes, it makes you wonder if they are shouting instead of talking normal
Usually, either yelling or trying to be VERY clear. uNLESS OF COURSE IF THE FIRST LETTER OF THE SENTENCE IS IN LOWER CASE. 🤣🤣🤣
Technically yes.
But some people prefer to type everything in caps, just because they like it.
I don't really use caps but I have had someone get mad at me and used caps.
Whoever this person is needs to understand internet etiquette.
That or they're just retarded. If they type in text speak all the time or use an overabundance of emoji's it's a very good possibility.
No that is okay with me, I do not take caps yelling. But rather making a point clear lol.
It never bothers me but i think many consider it yelling.
Yes that's exactly what I think so I yell back in all caps lol
I don't. People are too serious these days
Yea or inarguably drunk
No I think there trying to make a point
Yes, that girl KAREN
Sometimes yes but not often
Pretty much yes lol
Depends on the conversation
That's just basic netiquette.
Only if they put an exclamation point.
I do not think they are yelling... lol
Sometimes 😅
Not at all
Yes.
not always
Yeah
Hahahaha
Not really.
NO I DON'T 🤗
Nope
Yes, definitely.
