The only social media accounts I have is this site and youtube. I deleted tiktok, instagram , facebook. In my own experience I felt good more relax and peaceful I know a lot of people are going to call me boring or that I am old but I enjoy outdoor nature going to the liberary I went to the plant museum. I find museum a lot more intresting then socia media. I didn't realized how stressed out I was I said ok no wifi for only a few days. Honestly I enjoy it. When a few of my friends were shocked and look at me as if I had three eyes when I told them I deleted most of socia media apps. I am thinking about deleting this one to will see. Iwas wonder iftheres people out there that have decide to cut off social media. What do you think?
I did it not so much for peace of mind but I deleted mine since I got in some trouble for it. Despite having a private profile, some of the customers of our products discovered my Facebook page.
I didn't think I ever added anyone I didn't know but somehow they discovered from my wall posts that I got totally smashed one weekend and passed out on a train. Then they posted it quoting me on our forums together with the photos my friends tagged of me passed out.
Then PR issue and my manager wasn't upset with me about drinking too much on a weekend. What I do in my spare time is my business. But it was a messy situation and so I just deleted my social media.
That's also why I block my eyes on this site with most of my photos. It's a little bit of a paranoia thing but I want to make sure our customers can't possibly recognize me definitively since I don't want to cause another PR issue with all the stuff I share on here like my drunken misadventures in the past.

The problem isn't social media but our attitudes towards it, whilst these spaces are places we come for a break or just for a relax, its all fine, when they become important such that we start deforming our lives around them, then its bad.
So, deleting your social media may be solving a situation where you've become entrenched in the genre to the point it was obstructing your normal life.
I took a break from her for over a decade, and I came back because I wanted to and its good to share and help others. So I feel GaG is special like that, unlike other social sites.
I do though get your meaning, I often feel that I have an unhealthy need for watching YouTube sometimes. Fun post, thanks.
Social media, like news, is not something you want to consume every day. The point of these sites and apps is to keep you scrolling as long as possible so they can throw more ads at you in the hopes of making more money, much like how privatized news stations sensationalize stories to be much greater than they are to get more people tuning in and more ads on the airwaves. Comparing your life to others has also shown to have a negative effect on one’s outlook and perception of the world, much like having an endless stream of reported disasters affects your perceptions. Naturally, the less you consume, the better your mind feels as it’s not constantly consuming information made to keep you watching and scrolling.
I simply didn't log in to my social media, and they were deleted because I didn't accept changes in the service policies :D
I never had any problems because of social media, but they weren't interesting enough to keep me there for longer.

It is not something I take seriously nor do I find it toxic for me, so I never have had a reason to cut off from it. That's why I can completely forget about using it for days and not realize it.
However, I have had friends who cut themselves off from social media and they expressed enjoying it. Some of them went back to using it anyway - probably trying to balance it out instead of getting rid of it.My favourite time is when I'm away for a few days with zero signal. It's peaceful.
Unfortunately, the shit hits the fan when I get home...It is not what Social media accounts you have, but only how you use them that makes the difference to our peace. I use Facebook purely for learning about 2 specific things and discussion with those who know about it.
I deleted mine years ago. So much better indeed
I am only on GaG except for selling stuff on Facebook.
Yes! I uninstalled Instagram and Snapchat some time ago and it made me feel really free.
I'm preferring to use this site more given the anonymity and openness here. :D
I believe you.
Sm is stressful but outlet for people who have nothing to do
Never once regretted it. No fake friends trying to stay in touch with you for their advantage and you can’t compare your life to others
