Sometimes you gotta use alternative language in order to avoid tripping automatic punishment algorithms and the like. I'd much rather just say "kill", but if you tell someone to do that to themselves most places you'd get banned instantly. It is a nuisance. It is almost like they believe they can brute force people to get along by controlling their language. Turns out George Orwell was double-plus unright, and you can totally tell someone to unalive themselves.
That said, even those alternate words are just one small adaptation away from tripping filters themselves. Being tricky with sentence structure is smarter.20 Reply

1 yI hate it so much. It's so stupid. It's completely makes the attempt to censor suicide pointless. It certainly isn't something anybody should ever say unless they have to (will be censored otherwise). I am glad I'm not the only one who hates this stupidness.

Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one also.
Nope. Suicide, killing, murder, dead etc. Just use honest language
Omgggg she unalived herself.
No, Janet killed herself.44 Reply- 1 y

People are so soft, so coddled, that hard topics make them panic. For example, I'm not someone who wants to sewer slide and unalive myself. No, I'm fucking suicidal and I'd rather be dead. But that makes people freak out now, and not even for your safety, but their own emotional comfort.

Right! It's really sad how people can't take things now especially this new generation who I think came up with it.
I have never used it and will never use it. Its silly to me lol.

Things like that are absolutely idiotic. Words are nothing more than sounds that we use to convey meaning. When people complain about so-called "bad words", they must be complaining about either the sound of the word or the meaning of the word. If they are complaining about the sound of the word they need psychiatric help. And by making people use stupid euphemisms like "unalive", or "frick", all they are doing is making people change the sound. The meaning remains the same. If you're complaining about the sound of the word, you need psychiatric help. It's absolutely stupid.
10 ReplyI despise that term, specifically because of censorship issues.
I hate that we're such a bunch of goddamned sensitive little snowflakes that we have to make up new words, just to avoid saying certain things, because it might trigger someone.
Like, I'm sorry, but if a correctly used, non-slang word offends someone, then they need to grow the fuck up, and stop being a little bitch.

1 yI can't stand it. It's yet one more example of appealing to no one in an effort to be accessible to everyone. The censorship is in response to advertisers. It's the strangest thing, because you'd think marketers of all people would know that you don't appeal to anyone if you have to water down your message.
If someone can't handle hearing words that involve the termination of life, they're probably too sensitive to be watching a video talking about that subject.
30 ReplyNo, it’s a euphemism that is used by people who are scared to use the right words especially the moderators on the likes of Youtube, TikTok etc, used to be the same on Twitter/X before Elon bought it.
31 Reply- 1 y
Seems like it's the same on here as well. I've seen several people use it on here.
Stupid, I hate it. That and 'body count' drives me up a wall.
31 Reply- 1 y
Yep same
I don’t like it at all, it’s annoying and I don’t know why can’t we use normal language words lol
51 Reply- 1 y
Exactly lol
Yup it's a dumb term especially when it does not stop people talking about it just replacing the word.
Not that I would want a ban on talking about it, but if you are going to ban it you need to ban it all together.

1 yIt's a made-up PC term to avoid using the term "dead" or "killed", terms frowned on by video web site software that would otherwise demonetize the video. It's dumb.
30 Reply 1.6K opinions shared on Technology & Internet topic. I an not sure what it represents. Does social media censor the word dead?

1 yI think it’s a clever way to get around bullshit censors, but as a word itself? It’s just a word

1 yNo it's sad that anyone would want to censor speech.

1 yI think it's kinda funny, but I feel like people could come up with a more clever term.. I feel like everybody using it is being a bit lazy..
10 Replysame a dead as a door nail, worm chow, lights out, or just simply dead.
A word that has worked for centuries.10 Reply
1 yNo, it's a way of trying to lessen a serious matter giving the impact of death or suicide less meaning.
20 ReplyI prefer self deletion. That way it's less stigmatised than other terms

Anonymous(36-45)1 yWhat does it mean, is it something like "undead"?
12 Reply- 1 y
No it just means dead, killed, or committed suicide. When they say oh that person was unalived or that person unalived themselves. It's very stupid.
Opinion Owner1 yOh, I see, well, I think you're right, it's quite stupid.

1 yI agree. Just say the word- suicide. It's like people saying "intimate" instead of saying "have sex."
32 Reply- 1 y
The difference is you don't get your opinion deleted of you say sex. People choose to say intimate to be cclassy. Not so they don't get punishment by managers
No, everyone know what its a stand in for so its completely useless. Virtue signalling at its worst.

11 moI hate it actually. Kill and suicide should not be substituted to make someone feel better.
