I had the opportunity to attend a conference in one of the most advanced gene labs in the US a few years ago. The conference was on gene sequencing for adaptive medicine using AI (custom medicines for people based on their genes) it wasn't could we do it, it was do we have the processing power to handle the necessary data functions. Nope. Even if the AI can develop cures, the companies that own the AI will own the products of that AI and there’s more money in treatments than there is in cures. There’s nothing about AI that will mitigate the greed that controls nearly every aspect of human civilization.

It's got the advantage it can pull info out of medical journals worldwide in different languages, analyse epidemiological data of emerging diseases and spot resistance to medication much earlier. I think we'll see big benefits within the next 5 to 10 years.

The risk is we'll come too reliant on it and lose the traditional skills then find out it got stuff wrong.

Who knows? I hope so. There are too many rare incurable diseases out there. Maybe AI can go further than mankind in this regard.

We're getting closer by the day to being able to deliver drugs to the precise cells that require them. We have programs that can determine which molecules will likely treat certain diseases.
