Have you ever missed a train or flight? If so what did you do?

It was a nightmare. We got the times wrong for are family holiday to Bulgaria and missed are flight. We managed to get advice of the holiday agency and we managed to book a cheap flight for the next day once we got home from the airport. Everyone was stressed out and crying because at first we didn't know what to do but everything eventually worked out.
We had to drive to another city, really early in morning and get on this scapy af plane. The drinks were being kept in the toilets and there was a old lady smoking behind me, even whilst we were flying.
My boyfriend missed his flight once to go for a business trip so we just had to reschedule it. Wasn't a big deal just had to spend more money on it. And he got to spend a bit more time with me before he left lol
My dad also missed his flight once too. And had to reschedule it as well. But for him, he had to wait the next day.
No. Unfortunately, I am those who prepare at least 2 weeks in advance. Sometimes, I arrive so early at the airport, I am forced to sit down at a pub somewhere, and eat something or down a pint while writing on the laptop. I see the faces of people who end up arriving late at the airport, and always, always, they seem incredibly stressed, with sweat rolling down their faces, furrowed brows, and huge armpit stains to boot. I'm not sure whether my heart can take that amount of stress.
I'm not used to flights but to trains... So I usually arrive 15min earlier, today I arrived 1min late :/
I think in the future I will arrive 2 weeks before as you do
Trains in Spain must be very punctual.
But yes, for trains, I personally like to be there 15-20 minutes early.
The problem isn't so bad if the next train is in 3-5 minutes. It's those where the next train is 15-20 minutes away that's the problem.
2 weeks preparation for a train might be a bit too early. :D
Alternatively, you can always run after the train.
Having good form is important:
It depends on what type of train. Long distance trains, like the one I missed, are very punctual, but not frequent. The type of train I missed is pretty equivalent to missing a flight, as I had to get new tickets and wait around 1h or more. I'm quite a disaster :B
The train ticket is only valid for less than one hour?
Nope, the ticket of this kind of train is not like subway train or short distance train, that you buy a travel and use either for another train at 5:25, 5:45 or 6:10 but if you past X hours gets invalid. This type of ticket has a certain hour to go and numbered seat, you aren't buying a travel but a place in the train in a certain time, I'm not sure if I'm explaining well... Maybe there's an accurate word for this kind of train I ignore :/
That means this ticket is cheaper than those that are valid for a few hours. No?
No, is more expensive. That kind of tickets with numbered seat and specific time are for long distance travels which are also fast trains. "Valid for few hours" only exist in subway, urban bus or suburban trains. At least in Spain :/
I should stop to put two point and a slash after the end of that sentence, because I don't really want that emoji to appear
*That sentence = every paragraph
With the NS (Dutch trains) it's a given that you miss a lot of trains. The alternative is just to take another train. There have been times for me when a train would run over someone so I have to spend 2 hours longer to get to my destination
Is it too normal for trains to run over people? The way I read it sound as it happened regularly or so :B
It happens relatively frequently, yeah. About 200 every year, especially near where I live
That's hardcore :V

Not any important ones. I’ve missed the tri-rail before which is a tri-county commuter train. At night you have to wait about 2 hours for the next one to come. So when it’s happened before I just walked around town, went and ate dinner, listened to music on the platform, and stuff like that.
I think so yes. May of last year we were flying back from Hawaii and missed our second flight home (we didn't go direct cause it costs more). However - the next flight came to pick us up within 1-4 hours so it wasn't too bad. We weren't charged extra for the flight since it was the airlines fault.
With trains it's easy, I just took the next one (in some places where I live you get a train every 2 minutes). But I once missed a connecting flight because my first flight was delayed due to a strike. The airline booked the next day's flight for me and a hotel room, but when I arrived to my destination on the next day my luggage did not arrive, so it was pretty difficult as I had to buy almost everything. The airline did not make it easy to claim a refund for things I had to buy (I received a small bag of essentials, but it was only a toothbrush, toothpaste and one T-shirt).
No, but I came very close once. I got stuck and couldn't leave until 70 minutes before the flight... And I live 72 miles away from the airport. I drove over 100 mph for much of the way in order to make it. I arrived at the airport 19 minutes before it was scheduled to depart and made the flight. And this was a medium sized international airport. Probably the craziest thing I've ever done.
both actually. Took the next one in both cases. Once, due to some horrible booking system that took me to a completely different date than the one I wanted, I missed a flight home twice in a row. Worst part; I had a meeting on the day I was supposed to get home.
Whenever I miss the train, I have two choices. Either catch the next one coming or take the nearest bus route. I have never traveled on a plane, but I most CERTAINLY NOT miss that flight. I don't care if I have to be there four hours earlier.
No, but almost missed a flight due to my flight being late for a connection. I was walking fast to make it and I felt stressed out. I don't like airports... LOL
Many flights. Me and some family were going to newyork for a wedding. We came to the airport around early in the day but was never called for a flight until nighttime.
In Vegas we took the wrong bus and had to wait an hour in 110 degree weather. That was the worst day of my life. As soon as I got in the airport I almost hit the ground.
Took the next train or got a cab. Missed flights were deliberately missed.
I missed a plane trip, and southwest just told me to get on the next one.
Lol No, But I Know Many who Have "Missed the Boat."xx
Yes on purpose though I road down from Philly Baltimore Airport Flew Back To Philly From there to Athens Back To Philly and was supposed to get on next flight to Baltimore just to Save 2000 on First Class Flight.
I missed a flight because of my dad. We got on the next one that was 9 hours later.
A Flight it was on Purpose though I was supposed to go San Diego cause it was cheaper.
