Why do people who go by the “Yolo” BS not understand the risks?
I just feel like that Yolo shit will kill you quicker. “Lets jump off a cliff.. YOLO”. No hoe, more like solo because you the only one dumb enough to dive off this cliff 🤣 Hey, i wanna live as long as i can. I may take a few risks but nothing major. Lmao im just not a yolo person. I dont even care to skydive anymore.

What Girls & Guys Said
830- It's all about calculated risks. Skydiving isn't actually dangerous. Or rather, crossing the street or walking across a busy parking lot is probably more dangerous statistically speaking. But certain things are perceived as being more dangerous even if they aren't, or perceived as being exponentially more dangerous than they are. People always say firefighting is so dangerous and "omg that's amazing you do that, you're so brave!" but the truth is, we are trained to mitigate the risks. Sure, some people get hurt and/or die, but there are lots of professions. Quick Google found this:
www.themarlincompany.com/.../
which lists roofers and garbage collectors in the top list, along with farmers and landscapers. But I guarantee you when some garbage collector is on a date, the girl isn't gushing over him saying "omg, you're so BRAAAAVE!". I always think of semi drivers or the guys who collect shopping carts in the parking lot, they are heroes as well.
I am seen by some as being a risk taker. I ride motorcycles, travel internationally, go out into the wilderness solo, eat things off the ground (if they look tasty) or off the street vendors in third world countries, among many other "YOLO" activities. I'm not trying to brag or say I'm living the YOLO life, the only time I've ever said "YOLO" has been in sarcasm or ironically. I just don't think it's really that risky, I like living and having all my limbs and eyeballs and both testicles, etc. So when I go to Yemen, Brazil, Sudan, Israel, Jamaica, Guatemala, Nicaragua, or any of the other dozens of countries I have been to, I take precautions and keep my situational awareness up. Sometimes even too much, to the point where I feel silly afterwards for being so on guard.
Diving off a cliff can be very exciting and rewarding, but not something to be done without calculating the risks. Here's a pic of me jumping into a river. I specifically scoped out the water depth where I planned to enter before climbing the cliff, and I also intentionally wore a PFD to increase my buoyancy and decrease the depth I went to once in the water. Many factors about this jump were intentional: the pinched nose to prevent water forced into my sinuses, my ankles and legs slightly crossed to protect my testicles from impact as well.
Was it dangerous? Maybe a little. But not a spontaneous leap into the unknown. I've jumped off of many cliffs in my life, and I started off with smaller jumps and worked my way up as I learned some of the dangers. Same thing with motorcycle riding; I didn't just hop on and shoot up to 150mph on my first ride. I went slowly and didn't break 100mph until I had been riding for about a year, I didn't break 150mph until after several years of riding. - That's the whole point of it, it's about not thinking and just doing. This concept has been around for ever just with different names. Life in the fast lane is pretty much the same thing as yolo. The point is that these people want to feel alive at any cost and they usually achieve that by being close to death. In the right time and place I think this philosophy is not all bad because you don't want to just let life pass you by either but if you follow it all the time then you're definitely reckless. I say to each their own I'm happy with the way I make decisions and how I'm living my life and other people can make their own decisions. That's the beauty of life :) https://www.youtube.com/embed/xhszOM0Rth8
- My mother said..."Everything in moderation". I think common sense can be applied to all scenarios, if a person possesses such trait. I suspect you do. Those who don't... don't make it. That's nature?
