I’ve grown up camping my entire life, people go hiking and camping alone all the time…. That’s basically like saying I shouldn’t go for a run alone because something bad could happen.

@Subarugirl Yes, something bad could happen on the running trail as well. But usually someone would come along and find you eventually.

But if you're out in the middle of nowhere... good luck.

@Subarugirl That's good, then! Make a plan and stick to it. That way they can send out a search party if you don't report back at a certain time. And they'll be able to find you because you told them exactly where you will be.

(Still, that won't prevent you from being raped, kidnapped, or murdered, unfortunately.)

Nothing prevents that from happening unfortunately, but I have the ability to defend myself and will if I need to.

Once a person has his or her mind made up, it's rare that anything said will change that perspective. it sounds like she is saying this is what she plans on doing, and she's just looking for approval from others. There were a lot of things I did in my youth that I wouldn't consider repeating, but they made total sense to me at the time. For instance, to save money, I used to park off-campus when I was doing my undergrad work and then hitchhike to campus.

I’ll open carry and bring bear spray, also I’ll be car camping, not in a tent

By car camping, rather than backpacking, you'll be closer to other people and less likely to be stuck in the wilderness and not be able to contact anyone or get out on your own.

That's good. Just make sure you have plenty of gas in your vehicle. And carry an extra clip.
