Insanely high taxes, no jobs anywhere, high cost of living, the specialized Healthcare I need is far away and expensive, no right to self defense, power hungry politicians declaring martial law at the stroke of a pen, and no land use rights.
I didn't put California because while it suffers from many of those same issues, the specialized healthcare I need is very much available, the national parks are beautiful and well preserved, and the weather is OK. I'd only go to California if the price was right, officers are well paid there but the other issues make staying in Texas the clear choice.
Plus the air quality in the LA area combined with the heat would mean trouble for me, so I'll stay away from there11 Reply- +1 y
Iām literally melting in the heat and the air quality is indeed ass š
339 opinions shared on Travel topic. New York.
Back in '99, the company I was working for, which was headquartered in NYC, decided to close down their California office and move operations to NY - not to NYC, but about 45 miles north. I was offered a position there, with a raise. I turned it down. I was offered a bigger raise, and some moving assistance. I turned it down. Finally, my VP flew out from NYC, got on his knees in front of the remaining staff, and offered to double my salary and pay all moving costs. I turned him down.
And I told him "there's an office in Texas - why in the world wouldn't you move things there? It would cost less, it would be easier to staff, and people we need to deal with all the time are already there? And I'm willing to move to Texas." Nope, it was New York or nothing. I made 9 trips to NY to train people and help hire people, and then took my severance and moved on.
A year later, they moved everything to Texas. Bastards!

Even a lot of Trump supporters are calling Doug Mastriano too extreme. Fuck that guy.
And politicians will manipulate shit any way possible to make you look bad⦠but recruiting followers from a white supremacist social media site in no way can look āgood.ā

Would at least visit: Alabama, Mississippi, Lousiana, Utah, North Dakota, Idaho, Michigan, south Carolina, Texas
I like my state so I dont really want to move anyways.

511 opinions shared on Travel topic. I have been to almost all US states. While I may not care for some cities within those states, I pretty much am fine with all of them. However, I'd prefer not to be in strongly red states filled with racist MAGA idiots. I have to deal with that now where I live in Missouri and I would rather not have to been somewhere where it is worse than this. I cope because I won't judge people solely on their politics or religion.

+1 yCali, Florida, Texas. Great places to visit but not affordable for me to live there, plus people in Florida and Texas drives like bats flying out hell on crack. I also wouldn't recommend Wisconsin, went up there to watch the Manchester city game not that long ago and it was so damn boring. Maybe it was the location we were in but it was just nothing but mostly farmland. Also don't move to Nebraska, we're pretty boring to and don't have a lot main attractions. Lol 😆
12 Reply- +1 y
Oh and NYC, would love to travel there but way to expensive to live, plus It's getting pretty violent up there.
+1 yI've lived in ten states, and visited almost all the rest many times. Of the ones I've lived in, California is the only one I can't see ever moving to again. I left there for a reason 20+ years ago, and the state has seriously gone down hill since then.
Of the states I haven't already lived in it's a hard pick. Maybe Minnesota. Although realistically it's not about the state, it's about the specific location. Every state has good and bad places.
10 ReplyReally I canāt say that there is any state I donāt want to move to. Because the few states I would say no to I have a lot of reasons to move to⦠but like Cali and Florida are my top no states. I was about to type a whole rant about Cali's self defense and gun laws but I just checked the data. Literally just a few months ago this year a lot of that was revised. I'm gonna look into that a little more.

I was gonna say Iāve definitely defended myself and so have my friends who all own guns and havenāt gotten in any sort of trouble besides for owning brass knuckles šš
- +1 y
That is unfortunate and I'm glad you're all alright. I know Cali is a huge hub for the anti-gun sentiment so I'm not a huge fan of that. But mainly, its those taxes. If there's one thing on this earth I hate: its taxes.

While abortion will probably not be legal in Louisiana, exceptions will more than likely be written into law here. What gets me though is how they say "In cases of rape and incest." Rape I agree with but in the case of incest if it was not consensual then it is rape and if it was consensual and she got pregnant then it is both their faults and the baby should not be blamed for it...

Outside the food and -most- of the people being pretty friendly, it's not as great as they make it out to be. From the economy to social scene (or lack of), and let's not forget about the weather, blah. If I didn't have a decent job and family here, I would have moved ages ago. - +1 y
