Why do most people love New York so much?

I’m just curious! A lot of people are from New York or have lived there. What is it about New York or New Yorkers that most people like?

One of my cousins lived in New York and loved it accept for the cost of the apartments so he moved out after a year.

I'm not from there but I go to New York City several times every year. I love the energy. The food. The ability to get anything and everything you want or need and most of it 24/7. If you want sports, shows, speeches, fights, museums, libraries, concerts -- whatever. It's all there. And, by virtue of all that, it's different.

Well I’m from Northern New York.

I actually hate going down to the city to visit family. I love New York for the food, the weather, the people. When people think of Ny they just think of the city and don’t realize it’s a huge ass state with more to offer. Ny is so beautiful. Its familiar, warm, and just home.

People who aren’t from here would probably give you a better answer, lol.

I never been nor plan to, but one of the things I seem to see about New York is just the melting pot of nationalities. With that in mind, you most likely can find authentic pizza, foreign desserts, and foreign dishes that aren't Americanized.

I don't get it either. NY is loud, dirty, crammed, cold in winter, hot in summer and for that experience you pay with a kidney and your firstborn. To love that you have to be a hardcore city person, I guess. :-|

Because of how unique it is. its of smattering of a person representing every part of the earth. It's literally like the capital city of the planet. It's like the difference by the way going to a buffet with dishes from one country and going to one with all dishes from every country.

It's a shithole. For people that have always lived in a shithole, it feels warm and familiar. For everyone else, the place stinks.

i think the bloom is off the rose. People are leaving New York on droves. High prices and untenable crime is the most likely culprit.

Rampant crime everywhere you look, prices on everything are through the roof, psychos running the asylum!! About the only GOOD thing they got is a last from 30 years ago that says women can walk the streets topless, if the want to!
